• Prior to signing with Seattle, Rypien spent four seasons with Denver, spending 2019 on the practice squad, and appearing in eight games, starting three, from 2020-22. He appeared in two games for the Rams this season, starting one. In his career, Rypien has completed 98 of 168 passes for 950 yards, four touchdowns and nine interceptions in 10 games with four starts.
COLLEGE:During his time at Boise State, Rypien appeared in 50 games (49 starts) and finished his career as the Mountain West's all-time leader in passing yards (13,581), completions (1,036) and 300-yard passing games (21). He also is Boise State's all-time leader in 300-yard games and ranked second all-time in passing yards, completions, and attempts (1,618). During his final campaign in 2018, he was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year and earned his third selection to the All-Mountain West First-Team. Rypien finished the season with career-highs in passing yards (3,705), completions (301), attempts (447), and touchdown passes (30). Against Oklahoma State, he passed quarterback Kellen Moore as the all-time leader with his 17th-career 300-yard passing game. As a junior in 2017, Rypien was named to the All-Mountain West Second- Team and was on the preseason watch lists for the Walter Camp Award, Davey O'Brien Award, and the Maxwell Award. He finished second in the Mountain West with 2,867 passing yards and completed 62.9 percent of his passes (218-for-348) with 16 touchdowns. As a true freshman in 2015, Rypien was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year and earned All-Mountain First-Team. He appeared in 11 games (10 starts) and led the Mountain West in passing yards (3,353), total offense (3,276 yards), completions (273), and attempts (429).
PERSONAL:Rypien was a consensus four-star recruit per ESPN, Scout.com, Rivals.com, and 247sports and ranked eighth nationally. He was named Washington State Player of the Year by the Seattle Times. He concluded his career as the state passing leader (13,044 yards) and combined for 134 touchdowns. His yardage total was the eighth-most by a quarterback nationally. During his senior season, he broke the state single-season record of 4,552 yards. Rypien is the nephew of Mark Rypien, Super Bowl XXVI MVP.
