Was an all-state pick on defense his junior year, when he was also named the District 23-4A Defensive Most Valuable Player. Totaled 210 tackles, including 66 for loss, with 16 sacks in his high school career. Recorded 240 pancake blocks while allowing just one sack. Was the two-time Victoria Advocate's Lineman of the Year.
