Was a two-year starter at right guard for the Tigers after transferring from Northwest Mississippi Community College. Earned first-team All-America honors from The Athletic in 2019 and was voted to the second-team All-SEC by the AP and coaches. Entered the starting lineup in the 2018 season-opener and started all 28 games of his career, teaming with All-America center Lloyd Cushenberry to give LSU one of the best center-guard tandems in college football in 2019. LSU's line in 2019 won the Joe Moore Award, given to the top line in nation. One of the nation's top junior college offensive lineman in both 2016 and 2017 and was a two-time junior college All-America selection. Started all 22 games of his Northwest career at right guard. Graduated from Northwest Mississippi Community College in 18 months and was on the school's dean's list.
Was a two-way player on both offensive and defensive lines for Canton High School, on a team of about 35 players. Was one of the strongest players on the LSU team with a 635 pound squat and a bench press of nearly 500 pounds. Majored in sports administration.
