Ohne Fans kein NFL-Football in Seattle â klingt vielleicht verrĂŒckt, ist aber tatsĂ€chlich so. Die Seahawks haben den besten Support der Welt, das lĂ€sst sich anhand zahlreicher Beispiele belegen.
Hier kommen fĂŒnf wichtige, die du vielleicht noch nicht kanntest.
1. Seahawks-Fans haben ihre eigene Trikotnummer
Es ist vielleicht neben der Aufnahme in die Pro Football Hall of Fame die gröĂte Ehre, die einer Football-Persönlichkeit zuteil werden kann: dass die eigene Trikotnummer nicht mehr vergeben wird. Als einziges Team im Profisport ĂŒberhaupt haben die Seahawks ihren Fans diese Ehre erwiesen.
Am 15. Dezember 1984 wurde die Nummer 12 in Seattle fĂŒr immer in den Ruhestand versetzt. Eine Hommage an die besten Fans in der NFL, den 12. Mann der Seahawks. Seitdem hat kein Spieler mehr die Nummer getragen. Sie gehört den Fans.
Ihren Ruf als leidenschaftlichste Fanbase haben die 12s durch anhaltende Treue zum Team nach schwierigen Anfangsjahren. Dieser Support war besonders wichtig, als der damalige Owner, Immobilienentwickler Ken Behring, 1996 damit drohte, das Team nach Kalifornien umzuziehen. Die UmzugswĂ€gen waren schon gepackt, als der Umzug doch noch abgewendet wurde â dank dem spĂ€teren Teambesitzer Paul G. Allen. Aber auch dank einer Faninitiative mit dem Namen "SOS â Save Our Seahawks", die sich den LKWs mutig in den Weg stellte und öffentlich gegen die Relokation der Franchise kĂ€mpfte.

Seit 2003 haben die 12s passend zum Trikot auch ihre eigene Flagge. Vor jedem Heimspiel darf ein auserwĂ€hlter Stargast (geheim bis kurz vor dem Spieltag) die gigantische hellblaue Fahne mit der weiĂen 12 im Lumen Field hissen und damit unter tosendem Jubel nicht nur die Fans wĂŒrdigen, sondern vor allem dem Team kurz vor Kickoff so richtig einheizen. Das ist jedes Mal wieder GĂ€nsehaut pur!
Begonnen wurde diese Tradition am 12. Oktober 2003, als zwölf Dauerkartenbesitzer der ersten Stunde die Flagge erstmals hissen durften. Seitdem haben Seahawks-Legenden wie Kam Chancellor, Olympia-Medaillengewinnerinnen und auch die deutsche NBA-Ikone Detlef Schrempf die Fahne am Mast hochgezogen. Die Liste ist der Wahnsinn!
2. Sie feiern gleich mehrere Feiertage
Weil es gar nicht genug schöne Fan-Traditionen geben kann, gibt's in Seattle direkt noch eine weitere. An jedem Freitag wÀhrend der NFL-Saison feiern Seahawks-Fans traditionell weltweit den sogenannten Blue Friday.
Am letzten Werktag der Woche gehen Leute in Vorfreude auf den Gameday im Trikot und mit ihrer 12-Flagge zur Arbeit. Dieser Tag hat so viel Tradition, dass er vom Gouverneur des US-Bundesstaats Washington vor wichtigen Playoff-Spielen in der Vergangenheit mehrfach anerkannt wurde.
So wurde der Freitag vor dem ersten K.-o.-Spiel der Postseason nicht nur symbolisch, sondern auch offiziell zum Blue Friday. Mit dem Blue Friday lĂ€sst sich super ins Wochenende starten â die Vorfreude aufs Spiel am Sonntag kickt rein.
Aber warte kurz â das war es immer noch nicht! Star-Wars-Fans feiern den 4. Mai als ihren Feiertag (May the 4th = "May the forth/force be with you" = "Möge die Macht mit dir sein").
Seahawks-Fans feiern natĂŒrlich am 12. Dezember. Es könnte keinen passenderen Feiertag fĂŒr die 12s geben als den 12.12., oder? In diesem Sinne: Trage dir diesen Termin unbedingt in den Kalender ein und stelle sicher, dass dein Trikot an diesem Tag gewaschen und gebĂŒgelt ist.
3. Die 12s haben eine RegelÀnderung provoziert
Du weiĂt, dass du einen Eindruck hinterlassen hast, wenn wegen dir eine Regel geĂ€ndert wird. 1989 fĂŒhrte die NFL zum Start der Preseason eine Regel gegen "ĂŒbermĂ€Ăigen PublikumslĂ€rm" ein, unter anderem wegen des bemerkenswerten LĂ€rmpegels im Kingdome, dem damaligen Stadion der Seahawks. Das Geschrei der Fans machte es fĂŒr die gegnerischen Teams schwierig, sich auf dem Spielfeld zu verstĂ€ndigen.

Wenn die Fans sich nach Verwarnung durch die Schiedsrichter nicht leiser verhielten, wurde ihrem Team einfach ein Timeout abgezogen. Vor allem die groĂen Seahawks-Rivalen wie die San Francisco 49ers waren erleichtert. O-Ton von ihrem Trainer damals: "Wir wollen ein Footballspiel, das nicht in ein Rockkonzert ausartet."
Die wichtigere Frage aber: Was wollen die Fans? Die Reaktionen auf das LĂ€rmverbot waren â man hĂ€tte es sich denken können â laut. Statt sich von der neuen Regel den Mund verbieten zu lassen, nahmen die Supporter sie zum Anlass, ihr Team noch lautstĂ€rker zu unterstĂŒtzen. Als auch die Presse den Druck auf die Liga erhöhte, wurde die Regelung noch vor Start der Regular Season gelockert.
Football ohne Fan-Power wÀre kein richtiger Football.

Sonst wÀre folgende Geschichte wahrscheinlich nie passiert: Am 27. November 2005 besiegten die Seahawks die New York Giants in einem dramatischen Overtime-Spiel. Wichtister Mann an diesem Tag: der 12. Dan Support der lÀrmenden 12s verursachten die Giants elf (11!) Fehlstarts und verschossen dazu noch drei Field Goals.
Nach dem Spiel widmete Cheftrainer Mike Holmgren einen Spielball den Fans.
Damit du den LĂ€rm der 12s richtig greifen kannst: Zweimal stellten die Fans in Seattle bei einem Game der Seahawks Weltrekorde fĂŒr das lauteste Publikum bei einem Spiel auf.
Im September 2013 erreichten die 12s starke 136,6 Dezibel in einem Spiel gegen die 49ers. Das ist in etwa so laut wie ein DĂŒsentriebwerk in 25 Metern Entfernung.
Drei Monate spÀter waren es bei Monday Night Football gegen die New Orleans Saints sogar unglaubliche 137,6 Dezibel.

Auch wenn der Rekord inzwischen nicht mehr in Seahawks-Hand ist: Mit ihrer LautstÀrke geben die 12s dem Team einen 12-gegen-11-Vorteil bei Heim- und oft auch AuswÀrtsspielen.
4. Seahawks-Fans haben ein Erdbeben verursacht
Apropos LĂ€rm â die 12s sind nicht nur stimmgewaltig. Beim Playoff-Spiel gegen die Saints am 8. Januar 2011 lieĂen die Seahawks-Fans buchstĂ€blich die Erde erzittern. Das damals noch CenturyLink Field getaufte Stadion eskalierte wĂ€hrend des 4. Viertels vor Begeisterung, als Marshawn Lynch bei seinem legendĂ€ren 67-Yard-Touchdown-Lauf den viralsten Moment der Teamgeschichte erschuf. Der Beastquake getaufte Lauf ist bis heute der vielleicht verrĂŒckteste Touchdown-Run der NFL-Geschichte.

Lynch durchbrach auf dem Weg in die Endzone ein halbes Dutzend Tackles und brachte so die Seahawks mit 41:30 in FĂŒhrung.
SpÀter bestÀtigten Wissenschaftler der University of Washington, dass die von ihnen rund ums Stadion installierten Seismographen tatsÀchlich Schwingungen gemessen hÀtten. Ein krasseres Erdbeben erzeugte bislang nur US-Popstar Taylor Swift, als sie mit ihrer Eras Tour zu Gast in Seattle war.
5. Die deutschsprachigen Seahawks-Fans sind eine Macht
Die Fanbewegung der Seahawks ist gewachsen â und kein Hashtag steht dafĂŒr besser als #12sEverywhere. Seit 2014 existieren in Deutschland die German Sea Hawkers (GSH), die als gröĂter Seahawks-Fanklub auĂerhalb der USA ihr Team bei jeder Gelegenheit unterstĂŒtzen, selbst bei Primetime-Spielen, die aufgrund der Zeitverschiebung in Europa mitten in der Nacht stattfinden.
Was mit rund einem Dutzend Fans begann, ist heute auf einen 1.700 Mitglieder starken eingetragenen Verein angewachsen, der sich gemeinnĂŒtzig engagiert und ein vielfĂ€ltiges kulturelles Angebot organisiert.
Besonders fĂŒr die German Sea Hawkers war das Gastspiel der Seahawks in MĂŒnchen im November 2022 das Highlight der vergangenen Jahre â angefangen beim Empfang des Teams am Flughafen der bayerischen Landeshauptstadt ĂŒber die riesige Fanparty am Vorabend des Spiels bis zur Partie in der Allianz Arena, bei der die deutschen 12s ein AuswĂ€rtsspiel gegen die Tampa Bay Buccaneers zum Heimspiel machten.
