Not long after the Seahawks pulled off a thrilling comeback win over the Patriots on Wednesday, head coach Mike Macdonald provided another piece of positive news, saying the Seahawks got “great news” on quarterback Sam Darnold, who left the game with a hip injury.

Darnold's hip was not fractured, Macdonald explained, but there were further tests to be done. A day later, after Darnold had undergone more tests, Macdonald again was able to share positive news during his weekly show on Seattle Sports 710AM.

"We did get some results back," Macdonald said. "… We're still trying to figure out what the best prognosis is, but the hip is intact and it's good. It's more of like a muscle thing. So that's good, that's the good news. Now how long that is, we don't know yet, but really good news. I'm really happy for Sam. But it is painful now, I know it hasn't been an easy night for him."

Asked if Darnold has a chance to play in Seattle's Week 2 game in Arizona, Macdonald said he didn't know yet, but that his initial thought is that Drew Lock would play in Darnold's place.

"I don't know yet," Macdonald said. "In my mind I'm kind of thinking Drew's going to play, but no one has told me that, that's just kind of the way I'm thinking."

Asked if safety Nick Emmanwori and Tory Horton, who both were inactive for the game, were close to playing Wednesday, Macdonald said, "They were good enough to practice, good enough to practice limitedly and be questionable for the game. Both looked great. Could they have played? Maybe. Would it have been the right thing to make that decision to make them play? Maybe not."
