GREEN BAY, Wis.—Seahawks linebacker Tyrice Knight did not participate in Thursday's joint practice with the Packers, but while he was sidelined for the practice, the day also brought positive news for the second-year linebacker.

"We got some great news today," Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said. "That's what I was referring to earlier in the week. Now we're activating the plan. We'll see how long it takes, but a really positive day on T-Knight front this morning."

Knight, who took over a starting job alongside Ernest Jones IV midway through last season, was sidelined by a knee injury earlier in camp, then Macdonald later revealed that Knight was dealing with a separate medical issue that was keeping him out.

"It's a health matter," Macdonald said, noting Thursday's update, "basically said, 'Hey, we're good to go to rock and roll.' So, positive.

"He can start working out. He hasn't worked out in a week, so we've got to be smart with him coming back."

Macdonald also had a positive update on outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, who did not take part in the joint practice, but did do a pre-practice workout in full pads with defensive coordinator Aden Durde. Nwosu, who came off the physically unable to perform list Sunday after passing his physical, has not returned to practice yet but is making progress, Macdonald said.

"We did an individual period here with AD before practice, fully padded," Macdonald said. "Looked great, felt great. This is the first time the guy's put on pads in almost a year, well, not almost a year, but this season, so great first day back, it looked positive and we will keep building it out from here."

Left tackle Charles Cross, who had surgery to repair a dislocated finger earlier in camp, continues to ramp up his practice participation, which on Thursday included work in 11-on-11 team drills.

"Charles, he wants to do everything, so we have a plan bringing him back and he wants to go. It's great to see him out there and doing his thing."

While nothing is guaranteed, Cross remains on track to play in Seattle's opener against the 49ers.

"There's never any absolutes, but that's a fair assumption that he'll be ready to go," Macdonald said. "… This is why we do the practice, so you can be in this environment and have good physical competition and test it out. They said it went all right."

Also working his way back is center Olu Oluwatimi, who was sidelined earlier by a back injury.

"Olu practiced today for the first time (full) in a minute," Macdonald said. "The only period I saw was two-minute (drill). We'll watch it and evaluate from there."

Kenneth Walker III who has been limited throughout camp by a foot injury, was a full-go again on Thursday after also practicing Tuesday before the team left for Green Bay, as well as on Sunday (players got a surprise day off on Monday for a team outing to Topgolf).

"This is great," Macdonald. This week has been big for him. It's hard to plan these things out several weeks in advance, because you don't know how things are going to respond, but we take it week by week and plan it out and then go attack it."

Receiver Tory Horton remains sidelined by an ankle injury that occurred in Friday night's preseason game, one Macdonald said at the time was not serious.

"I don't have an update on Tory," Macdonald said. "It's not because it's not going well. We've got to see how the ankle, how and when, how fast it calms down."

Asked if he had any concerns about Horton's availability for Week 1, Macdonald first joked about it being his nature to be concerned about everything, but then expressed optimism Horton will be ready to go.

"I'm always concerned," he said. "I'm concerned about everything. 'Are you concerned about anything?' Yes, that's my nature. I'd say we're optimistic about where he's at, and he's got two weeks."

Defensive lineman Mike Morris left practice with an apparent injury, with Macdonald saying, "He got a little dinged up. We're evaluating him right now."
