The Seahawks are packing up and taking the team to the Midwest for one joint practice with the Green Bay Packers ahead of the two teams' preseason finale on Saturday.

"It is just one [practice]," coach Mike Macdonald said. "You do have to keep the timetable, but I think that is one of the reasons why we do just one practice. This is an opportunity for our ones and twos to be in this environment, practice against a good team, and get some great work in."

Last season, Seattle took part in its first joint practice with the Tennessee Titans in Nashville, after not having held a joint practice since 1991 when they practiced with the Atlanta Falcons. Macdonald said the ones will mostly likely not be playing in the last preseason game, so this joint practice will be important for them.

"It's just more so focused on ones are getting really meaningful reps," linebacker Ernest Jones IV said. "I think you get into preseason games and a lot of times you won't get enough reps of plays coming your way. I think in those joint practices you get a good look. A lot of things that are going to come your way, but just get another feel for another team, how they operate. So it's good. Just go scheme for scheme and see what's better."

Cooper Kupp has participated in many joint practices over his career and says while they will be getting meaningful reps in an intense practice environment, this is also a good experience to see something different than the players are used to.

"It's just an opportunity to see different techniques, different coverages. Obviously the competitiveness is just different. I don't want to say it's more or less than what you're doing each and every day. I mean we come out here every day with a very competitive mindset with how we handle our business, but it is just a different body across the line of scrimmage from you and it's good to have those opportunities and just see some different things, try your stuff out against some different looks. It will be a good competitive day."

Adding that he prefers the joint practice opposed to a preseason game.

"I've only done things one way in my entire career, so I'm not saying it's better or worse than [how] anyone else does it, but I do enjoy being able to take advantage of those joint practice days though and seeing some different people."

The Seahawks hit the field for practice on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 as they get set to travel to Green Bay, Wisconsin for a joint practice and preseason matchup vs. the Packers.
