Doug Baldwin Returns To Practice & Other Injury Updates From Pete Carroll

Injury updates from Seahawks coach Pete Carroll as his team kicks off its week of practice ahead of Sunday's game at Arizona.

After missing the past two games with a sprained knee, Pro-Bowl receiver Doug Baldwin has a chance to make it back for the Seahawks' Week 4 game at Arizona. Baldwin returned to practice on Wednesday, and while he needs to show during the week of practice that he's ready, the hope is that he can get back from the MCL injury he sustained early in Seattle's season opener at Denver.

"He's going to practice today," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said prior to Wednesday's practice. "It's a great jump for him to make. He was in the walkthrough today, and he'll practice for the first time in a few weeks. He looks really good and light on his feet, and he looks very confident that he can have a chance to play this week, so we'll see how that goes."

Asked if he was confident Baldwin will play Sunday, Carroll said, "I've got to see him. He hasn't practiced going full speed yet, so we'll find out. But I'm really hopeful that he can do that. He's really determined. It has been a really frustrating process for him, and he's dying to get back out there, so hopefully he can pull that together."

Also expected back at practice is center Justin Britt, who was held out of last weekend's game with a shoulder injury. Carroll said left guard Ethan Pocic won't practice Wednesday, but "is way better today. His ankle feels a lot better. He's hoping he can play this week, that's what's in his mind, that's what we just talked about earlier."

But even if Pocic is able to play this weekend, Carroll indicated they'll go with J.R. Sweezy again at left guard rather than rush Pocic back.

"It's going to have to show itself that (Pocic) is really ready to go for us to change," Carroll said. "Those guys did a good job and we don't need to rush him back under these circumstances. We're just getting started with D.J. (Fluker) back in and Sweezy on the other side. So I don't expect that (Pocic) would just jump right back in, because he can't practice today. So that's going to be hard for him to get back that fast. But he might be available on gameday."

Asked for an update on the status of linebacker K.J. Wright, who is working his way back from arthroscopic knee surgery, Carroll said, "He's working his way back. He was going on a really good pace, then we needed to slow it down a little bit, so we're going day to day with him now and seeing how he progresses."

Defensive end Dion Jordan is dealing with what Carroll called a core injury, but Carroll said, "He'll be active, moving around and stuff. We'll have a chance for him this weekend."

Also dealing with a core injury is running back C.J. Prosise, who was held out of last week's game, and whose status this week remains in question.

"We're working with him," Carroll said. "It's a core injury, we're not quite able to nail it yet how we can get him back, so I'm not sure what's going to happen this week, but we're going to look after him and see if we can get him right. He didn't make a lot of progress over the weekend, unfortunately."

Ed Dickson remains on the reserve/non-football injury list and cannot come off of that until after Seattle's sixth game, but Carroll said the tight end "is working really well. I touched base with him today again; he's just a couple of weeks away now, and you can't imagine how hungry he is to get out there and help his club. He should be fine, barring setbacks. He's in great shape."

Carroll also said safety Earl Thomas won't practice Wednesday, though he classified it as a usual veteran's day off: "This is a day that Earl always gets a break."
