Wednesday Round-Up: Sebastian Janikowski Named NFC Special Teams Player Of The Week

Seahawks kicker Sebastian Janikowski has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his play in this past Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers.

Good morning, 12s.

Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today - Wednesday, November 28 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

Janikowski Earns Weekly Honor

After making three field goals in the Seahawks' Week 12 win at Carolina, including the game-winner as time expired, kicker Sebastian Janikowski has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Janikowski drilled a 31-yarder on the final play of the game to give the Seahawks a win that was crucial to their playoff hopes, and that also ended a 10-game home winning streak for the Panthers. Earlier in the game Janikowski made field goals of 33 and 30 yards, both of which tied the score at the time. Sunday's game-winner was Janikowski's second this season, having also put the finishing touch on Seattle's Week 4 win in Arizona. In his first season with the Seahawks, Janikowski has made 15 of 19 field goal attempts with a long of 56 yards, and is a perfect 33 for 33 on extra point attempts. Over the past seven games, Janikowski has just one miss, going 9 for 10 on field goal attempts.

This is Janikowski's eighth time earning Player of the Week honors, but his first time with the Seahawks. He most recently was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in 2012 while kicking for the Raiders. The 40-year-old Janikowski also has the rare distinction of winning this award 18 years after his first Player of the Week selection, which came in Week 9 of the 2000 season when he was a rookie.
