The Seahawks signed receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a contract extension on Wednesday.

"It's an honor, it's a blessing," Smith-Njigba said on Wednesday. "I feel like I was definitely drafted to Seattle for a reason, it's become home, and it's just a blessing to come back and be a part of a great staff, a great team, great coaches and a great community. So I couldn't ask for more from a city and an organization."

The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will host the NFL's season-opening game on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at Lumen Field. The game will air on NBC and kickoff is set for 5:20 p.m. PT. The opponent will be announced later this spring.

Seahawks general manager/president of football operations John Schneider made an appearance on his weekly Seattle Sports radio show on Wednesday and was joined by Seahawks vice president of player affairs Maurice Kelly.
