Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's going on out there and any news you might have missed, about your Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks scouts, along with head coach Mike Macdonald, and general manager/president of football operations John Schneider spent time in Indianapolis this week for the NFL Scouting Combine to evaluate prospects for the upcoming draft. While they were there, Macdonald and Schneider met with the media. Here's what we learned from those press conferences and media sessions:

John Schneider's "Priority" During The Offseason Is Retaining As Many Players As Possible

As much of the NFL Scouting Combine is about meeting with prospects and evaluating them, there is also a part that happens during this week that is equally important in building and maintaining an NFL roster. While all general managers, coaches, scouts and NFL agents are in one space, it makes it the ideal setting to have conversations about contract extensions.

"The combine's become a little bit more about what the free agency and trades, and what's the Spring going to look like," Seahawks general manager/president of football operations John Schneider said.

The Seahawks have a handful of players that are up for contract extensions, and could be set to hit free agency, unless a deal is made.

After his end-of-season run, serving as the team's No.1 running back because of a Zach Charbonnet injury, and then Super Bowl MVP performance, Kenneth Walker III is one of the bigger names when it comes to a contract extension.

Finalizing The Coaching Staff, Injury Updates & More From Seahawks Coach Mike Macdonald At The NFL Scouting Combine

Winning the Super Bowl comes with a lot of rewards, but that ultimate prize also means a short offseason for the teams lucky enough to reach the pinnacle of their sport.

For Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald, there was almost no time to bask in the glory of becoming the third-youngest Super Bowl winning head coach in NFL history, because he was trying to hire a new offensive coordinator within days of returning from San Jose with the Lombardi Trophy.

The Seahawks made official the hiring of offensive coordinator Brian Fleury last week, but still have a few hires and titles to finalize in the near future, and Macdonald said he expects that to happen soon.

"No new news, but we're getting close, so we'll put something out pretty soon on finalized titles and roles and all that type of stuff," Macdonald told reporters off the podium following his combine press conference Wednesday.

Mike Macdonald: Seahawks Transition From Super Bowl To Combine, Will Have A 'Different Evolution' On Offense

Though he's still not rewatched the Super Bowl and is looking forward to a vacation in Hawaii soon, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald had to turn his attention to the NFL Scouting Combine this week.

"Trust me, it's easier than you think," Macdonald said. "You have to hire a staff, and time waits on nobody, and we had to go. 'Hey, you're flying to the combine on Monday.' It's just these daily things you have to hit, and those are the things you're focused on, just being completely honest."

At the combine, Macdonald, alongside scouts and other coaches, is evaluating players and figuring out which prospects would be a good fit to become a Seahawk. And on Wednesday morning before his media obligations, that's exactly what he was doing. Macdonald sat inside a suite at Lucas Oil Stadium taking notes on the prospects they were meeting with.

Duplicating This Season, The Offseason Timeline & More From John Schneider At The NFL Scouting Combine

Takeaways from Seahawks general manager/president of football operations John Schneider's press conference with the media at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Quick Turnaround From Super Bowl To NFL Combine, Seahawks Adjust And 'The Show Goes On'

When the Seahawks went on their playoff run, ultimately leading them all the way to a Super Bowl win against the New England Patriots on February 8, the Seahawks also shortened what would be their "normal" offseason timeline and preparation. Though their time was shortened, they still feel prepared and "on course" for the first step of their offseason draft process, the NFL Combine this week.

The 2026 NFL Combine is in Indianapolis where scouts, head coaches, coaches and general managers will spend a week evaluating players who could potentially become the next Seahawks. This year is different, compared to more recent years because of the quick turnaround from the Super Bowl to the combine.

Matt Berry Seattle's vice president of player acquisition said, "Maybe more fatigue, more accelerated. We just finished our pre-combine meetings [last week]. So we've gotten through the same amount of players we would normally get through."

The John Schneider Show on Seattle Sports Radio

Schneider made his offseason weekly appearance on Seattle Sports Radio to talk all things NFL Combine and free agency, which is quickly approaching.

While in Indianapolis, Schneider said he met with player's agents and his mindset for free agency is, "We're going to maximize everybody's salary while trying to make everybody happy and having our collective 70 be as elite as we possibly can."
