Seahawks Round-Up: Looking For A Home Win, What To Watch On Sunday And More

All the Seahawks news you might have missed from this week.

2025-09-19 Seahawks Round Up

Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's going on out there and any news you might have missed, about your Seattle Seahawks this week.

Seahawks Home Matchup vs. Saints

After a road win in Pittsburgh, Seattle is back at home, looking to bring a win to Lumen Field.

Leonard Williams said, "This past weekend, we just brought it all together with the physicality and just the execution. And I think we just need to bring back a home win."

The numbers look solid, if not spectacular for quarterback Spencer Rattler through two games, what has stood out about his play so far in his young career?

DeShazier: I think he has surprised everyone with his ability/willingness to run. Eight carries for 43 yards in two games won't draw comparisons to Lamar Jackson, but Rattler has been able to escape some pressure and keep drives alive. He has been willing to take on defenders when necessary, but that's a habit he probably needs to break. Bigger, though, is the fact that he has protected the football. He hasn't committed a turnover while completing 52 of 80 for 421 yards and three touchdowns. Again, a team with a small margin for error needs its quarterback to protect the ball, and Rattler has done that so far.

1. Can the Seahawks start fast again and ride that momentum to a needed home victory?

The Seahawks started last week's game with the ball, then promptly drove the length of the field, capping the drive with a Sam Darnold touchdown pass to rookie Tory Horton. That score not only gave the Seahawks an early lead in a game they'd eventually win by two touchdowns, it was also Seattle's first opening drive touchdown since Week 14 of the 2023 season.

"It's always great to score touchdowns, no matter what the circumstance is, but obviously, opening drive, it's great to start the game that way," Darnold said. "I feel like, again, we can be that efficient every single drive. That's the standard for us, but it was great to be able to get out there and first drive and execute like that."

And while a fast start isn't a must—plenty of teams overcome slow starts to emerge victorious every week in the NFL—playing from ahead is a luxury the Seahawks would love to have as they look to get back on track at home. As has been well documented by this point, the Seahawks finished 3-6 last season at home, then lost their home opener to the 49ers, making them a team very eager to find their footing and once again be a dominant team at home. And a fast start, on either side of the ball, would be a great way to set the tone and get what is always a loud crowd really fired up for the game.

Seahawks Uniform Combo For Week 3

The Seahawks will wear their all-college navy uniforms in their home matchup against the Saints.

2025 High School Coaches of the Week

Our Week 2 coach of the week winners are head coach Monte Kohler of O'Dea High School and head coach Keith Terry of Mount Tahoma High School. Each coach will be invited to a Seahawks game later this season to be recognized for their accomplishments and will receive a $500 donation to their football program!

Head coach Monte Kohler has been coaching since 1985 at O'Dea High School and has won 5 state championships including winning it all for 3A last season. Monte was inducted into O'Dea High School's Hall of Fame in 1992, Wall of Honor in 2000, the Washington State Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2010, and the Pacific Northwest Hall of Fame in 2014. Most recently Monte passed an all time record becoming the winningest coach in Washington State high school football history with his 395th win! We thank Coach Kohler for all he has done for the football community and more in the State of Washington.

Head Coach Keith Terry has Mount Tahoma off to a great start this season including a dominate upset on the road vs. Camas 49-22. Coach Terry graduated from Mount Tahoma in 2006 and has been coaching for over 15 years. He became the Mount Tahoma head coach in 2022. Since becoming head coach, Mount Tahoma has advanced to the state quarter finals in back to back years for the first time in over 40 years. "It has truly been a honor and privilege to lead the young man in the community where I grow up. We want to create an environment where we teach these young men to be uncommon in their approach to life. Being uncommon for us is doing the right thing all the time and finding ways to stay focused in the mist of adversity," Terry said.

Together | The Sound of the Seahawks: S4 Ep.2

The regular season is finally here, and with a divisional rival in the San Francisco 49ers on the horizon, the city is buzzing. Not only will this be the first test for the 2025 Seattle Seahawks, it will be the first test for the revamped offensive line, including rookie left guard, Grey Zabel. After a back and forth affair with the 49ers, the Seahawks were left disappointed with the result, falling short 17-13. In the NFL, there is no time to dwell on the past, and that holds true as the Seahawks quickly turn their attention to the first road trip of the season, a week 2 matchup vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. Starting fast with an opening drive touchdown, the Seahawks never looked back. With contributions from all three phases of the game, the Seahawks secured their first win of the season, defeating the Steelers 31-17. A return to Lumen Field and a visit from the New Orleans Saints is up next, as the Seahawks look to carry their momentum back from the east coast.
