The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will host the NFL's season-opening game on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at Lumen Field. The game will air on NBC and kickoff is set for 5:20 p.m. PT. The opponent will be announced later this spring.
This year's season-opener will be played on a Wednesday, instead of the usual Thursday night because the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers will play an international game in Australia on Thursday.
The Seahawks will be added to a short list of teams to have played a game on a Wednesday. Since 1950, there have been just four games that have been played on Wednesday. And by playing a game on a Wednesday, the Seahawks will become the ninth current NFL team to have played a game on every day of the week. The Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants and Washington Commanders have all completed the feat.
The full NFL schedule is typically released in May.
