Leonard Williams, a dominant force on the Seahawks' defensive line since arriving in a 2023 trade, was ranked as the league’s No. 1 defensive tackle in ESPN’s annual position rankings, which are determined by a vote of NFL coaches, executives and scouts. Devon Witherspoon, meanwhile, ranked fourth among cornerbacks.

"(Williams) was the most important player on that Super Bowl team," an NFL coordinator told ESPN. "He's the total package."

Williams, who was acquired in a midseason trade with the Giants in 2023, has piled up 22 sacks 43, 167 tackles, 34 tackles for loss, 67 quarterback hits and a very memorable 92-yard pick-six in his two-plus seasons with Seattle. Williams has been a Pro-Bowl selection in each of his two full seasons as a Seahawk, and also earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2025. But even the impressive numbers and accolades don't show his real value to the defense as a player who can line up all over the line of scrimmage and wreak havoc while frequently commanding double teams.

"You can line him up in front of the right tackle, the right guard, the center, the left guard, the left tackle -- he can beat them all," a veteran NFC defensive coach told ESPN. "He's always had game-changing ability, and he's putting it all together now. And those around him are making plays because of it too."

Williams moved up from No. 6 last year to the top of the rankings this year.

Witherspoon, who has been a Pro-Bowl selection in each of his first three seasons in the league, as well as a second-team All-Pro in 2025, cracked the top five after checking in at No. 10 on the list a year ago.

"Outstanding in the slot, can play on the perimeter, violent, physical and impacts games [in ways] that don't show up in [the] stat sheet," an NFL coordinator told ESPN. "And he's so twitched up as an athlete."

"He's just a really good football player -- I don't care that he's not a traditional outside corner," an NFL personnel evaluator said. "He's the ultimate tone-setter."

ESPN's rankings continue next week with offensive tackles, interior linemen, quarterbacks, off-ball linebackers, receivers and safeties.
