Seattle came out of the Sunday Night Football game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a 20-3 win. The game featured a strong defensive showing, a much cleaner game from quarterback Sam Darnold and an offense that ran the ball more effectively than it has in recent weeks.
Thanks to the Seahawks defense, the Chiefs were unable to reach the endzone at any point on Sunday and Seattle was up 13-3 entering the fourth quarter. After the Chiefs missed a field goal, Seattle took over at their own 35-yard line before going 65 yards to find the endzone to extend their lead.
Darnold connected with Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a 14-yard gain to get the drive started on a high note and then followed up with the rushing attack. Emanuel Wilson carried the ball twice for six and three yards respectively before AJ Barner converted on a third-and-1 "Barn Yard" carry. Wilson had three more carries on the drive for a total of 10 yards before he found some space for a 21-yard touchdown run. Jason Myers' successful PAT attempt extended Seattle's lead 20-3.
"I think our staff and our players did a great job this week of really identifying where we can improve," head coach Mike Macdonald said on the run game. "I think when we watched our self-scout tape, like I said earlier in the week, I left those meetings more enthused with our ability to be able to run the ball. We had to be able to fix some certain things that we needed to improve on. So I think you saw the result of that, of us taking a step."
