The Seahawks lost starting center Jalen Sundell to a knee injury during Sunday's 44-22 win over the Cardinals, and will likely be without him for multiple games, head coach Mike Macdonald said.

"It's going to be multiple weeks," Macdonald said. "I'd say IR is under consideration with it. Not season-ending, as of today. He's tough as crap, we'll see how it goes, but hopefully we'll get him back."

Sundell does not need surgery, Macdonald said, but if the second-year lineman were indeed to go on injured reserve, that would mean missing at least four games before being eligible to return.

The good news for the Seahawks is that they have another center with starting experience in Olu Oluwatimi, who played well after taking over for Sundell, helping lead the way to a big rushing performance, with the Seahawks running for 122 of their season-high 198 yards in the second half.

"Really excited for Olu," Macdonald said. "Talk about staying ready, then when his opportunity presents itself, he played some really good football for us. He was really a catalyst behind a lot of those runs."

As for the backup plan at center behind Oluwatimi, Macdonald mentioned rookie Bryce Cabeldue and Christian Haynes as possibilities but said they're still working through that. Cabeldue, a rookie out of Kansas, is listed as a guard on the roster but has also seen time at center, including six snaps late in the game when the Seahawks pulled several starters. Haynes, a second-year guard, spent time at both center and guard in training camp before suffering a pectoral injury that landed him on injured reserve. Haynes returned to practice two weeks ago but has not yet been added back to the 53-man roster.

Asked about what the Seahawks will miss while Sundell is out, Macdonald said, "I thought he was playing really well for us. A lot of the things that he does well, Olu does too. But Jalen is a great athlete, he can get to the second level, he's tough, resilient, all those things. But Olu is too, Olu is also a really good player, and he's played great football for us, and that's what we're going to need from him."

The Seahawks had several players miss Sunday's game with injuries, and while it's too early to know the status of those players, Macdonald said there is hope that linebacker Ernest Jones IV (knee), cornerback Josh Jobe (concussion) and receiver Tory Horton (shin) can get back this week.

"Too early to know," Macdonald said, noting the Seahawks will likely have a lighter practice again on Wednesday like they did last week. "We're probably going to stick to a similar schedule as we did last week. We've got to play it day-by-day with those guys, but I'd say all three are hoping to play."

Macdonald said defensive tackle Jarran Reed, who was placed on injured reserve Saturday with a wrist injury, had his surgery Monday morning, and the hope is still to have him back at some point this season.

"It's going to be multiple weeks," Macdonald said. "We've just got to get a sense of how strong it is and how well it heals. But again, I don't think we're in danger of—right now the goal is to get him back."

Macdonald also said that he does not think rookie Rylie Mills, who has been on the non-football injury list all season due to a torn ACL suffered late in his senior season at Notre Dame, will return to practice this week.

"Not to my knowledge, not this week," Macdonald said.
