The Seahawks started the scoring on Sunday in a familiar way, with Sam Darnold connecting with Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a long touchdown reception.

But after building a big lead in an eventual 44-22 win over the Cardinals, the Seahawks turned to their running game, which was as productive as it has been all seasons.

The Seahawks rushed for a season-high 198 yards on Sunday—and it would have been 200 if not for end-of-game kneel downs—including 181 yards from running backs Zach Charbonnet, Kenneth Walker III and George Holani.

And according to NFL Next Gen Stats, the Seahawks ran the ball with uncommon frequency. Seattle's offense called run plays on 78 percent of their plays, the third highest rate in a game in the Next Gen Stats era, which began in 2016. The Seahawks had six explosive runs and 13 missed tackles forced, according to Nex Gen Stats, including a season-high five missed tackles forced for Charbonnet, who led the team with 83 yards on 14 carries.

"Anytime we can run the ball and continue to run the clock like that is important," said rookie guard Grey Zabel. "You've got to give credit to our running backs. The way they ran it was pretty impressive. We've just got to keep building on that."

Thanks to the big lead the Seahawks built early in the game, they attempted only 12 pass attempts, with 10 of those coming in the first half, and ran the ball 46 times. It was the first time the Seahawks have had 46 or more rush attempts in one game since a 2014 win over the Eagles, and the 16th game in franchise history with 46 or more rush attempts, all of them victories.
