Good morning, 12s.

Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today – Friday, August 16 – about your Seattle Seahawks:

Making Plays And Making Days

When you're watching your favorite NFL team take on the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday in Minneapolis (because I know you'll all be watching), keep an eye out for rookie wide receiver DK Metcalf. As you notice the Ole Miss alumnus make plays on the field, keep in mind that he's also been making some incredible plays off the field.

After camp broke this week, the team had the day off on Wednesday and Metcalf spent his day out in the community making a difference. 25 middle school teachers stood patiently near the optics section of a local department store at Southcenter Mall in Tukwila, Washington. As the store's manager sidetracked the teachers with some back-to-school conversation, the 6' 4" receiver turned the corner with a smile on his face. Jaws dropped and the crowd began to cheer with excitement as Metcalf surprised them with his appearance.

Each teacher was given a $200 gift card to shop around the store to purchase essentials for the upcoming school year. In addition, DK also presented helped present a check to Seattle Public Schools administrators for a $1,000 donation. The district plans on using the donation money to provide students in need with socks and underwear.

The second-round draft pick took his time to graciously spend some time with the teachers and help them shop around the store. Making conversation was not a problem for Metcalf as he reflected on his middle school days.

From Mercer International Middle School to Washington Middle School, to Aki Kurose Middle School, a handful of middle schools were present. With this surprise shopping spree being Metcalf's first official community event as a Seahawks, I know that it certainly won't be his last.

Tune in on Sunday at 5 p.m. PT to catch our preseason week 2 matchup against the Vikings. Watch the game on FOX or listen on 710 ESPN Seattle and 97.3 KIRO FM.
