Friday Round-Up: Bobby Wagner Shares First Impressions Of 2018 Seahawks Training Camp

WagnerRound

Good morning, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Friday, July 27 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

Wagner: "Everybody Has Something To Prove"

Seattle opened its 2018 training camp on Thursday along the shores of Lake Washington at Renton's Virginia Mason Athletic Center, and following the first practice of the new season, Seahawks Pro Bowl linebacker Bobby Wagner met with the media to share his thoughts on the club's upcoming campaign. Here's a few highlights from Wagner's session with the Seattle-area press:

(On if this year feels different...) "I mean obviously it feels a little different, you know especially not having Sherm (Richard Sherman) and several of those guys because you've been playing with those guys for, it would've been seven years. So obviously different but I feel like there is a different energy, a different vibe. I feel like everybody is hungry, everybody has something to prove, and that brings an excitement."

Glad to be back! Happy to see the fans! Let’s get it started 🙌🏾

(On his impressions of rookie linebacker Shaquem Griffin...) "I've been really impressed with him just by how well he has been able to pick up the defense, how fast he is moving, how fast he is playing. Just for me, his route recognition. He is fearless, he is not letting anything hold him back. I mean you wouldn't even know that he doesn't have a hand, so we are treating it as such. He is a baller. I think he is going to do a great job and I am excited to see how he looks in pads."

(On if he likes when people downgrade the Seahawks...)"Of course, you don't got to make nothing up. Sometimes you have to make up stuff, now y'all are giving us stuff to feed off on. Since I've been here, we've always had a lot of guys that had stuff to prove. Whether it's myself, they said I was too small, I wasn't going to be able to play. Russell (Wilson), they said he was going to be too short, wasn't going to be able to see. We pride ourselves on proving people wrong and it's no different. I think there's always something you have to prove if you want to be great."
