Seahawks 2018 first-round draft pick Rashaad Penny, a running back out of San Diego State, has been named Male Athlete of the Year by the Mountain West.

Good morning, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Wednesday, July 18 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

Penny Honored By Mountain West

The Mountain West Conference announced recipients of its Athlete of the Year awards, and former San Diego State running back Rashaad Penny, who the Seahawks selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, was honored.

Penny becomes the first Aztec to receive the award and first in MW league history to be named both Offensive Player of the Year and Special Teams Player of the Year in the same season after a record-setting 2017 campaign that saw him place fifth in Heisman Trophy voting. Penny, a standout in the return game as well, led the NCAA in rushing yards (2,248) and all-purpose yards (2,974) last year.

Earning female Athlete of the Year for the Mountain West was track and field star Allie Ostrander of Boise State.
