Tuesday Round-Up: Russell Wilson Rated 97 Overall In Madden NFL 21

The Seahawks quarterback is the 2nd-highest rated QB in this year's release.

Good afternoon, 12s.

Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today – Tuesday, July 14 – about your Seattle Seahawks.

Russell The Cheat Code

Madden Ratings Week has arrived and Russell Wilson will be one of the best in the game at quarterback based on ratings released for the position on Monday. Wilson was given an overall rating of 97, trailing only Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs, the lone quarterback in the '99 Club' this year.

Interestingly, Wilson is sandwiched between the two most recent cover athletes for Madden. Mahomes was featured on the cover of Madden 20, and Lamar Jackson is the star of this year's game. Drew Brees (Madden NFL 11) and Tom Brady (Madden NFL 18) have also been featured in the past, meaning Russell is the only quarterback in the top five to not star in a Madden game. Could Madden 22 be the year?

You don't earn a 97 overall without high ratings in several key categories. Some highlights for Wilson, including where they rank among quarterbacks:

·      83 Break Tackle (#1)

·      91 Throw Power (#6)

·      93 Agility (#2)

·      93 Ball Carrier Vision (#2)

·      95 Throw Under Pressure (#3)

·      96 Awareness (#2)

·      96 Throw On The Run (#2)

·      96 Throw Accuracy Deep (#1)

This isn't the first time in recent weeks for Russ to show up in the elite of the elite at the quarterback position based on ranking systems and lists. ESPN surveyed a panel of more than 50 executives, coaches, scouts and players, asking them to rank their top players at each posittion, and Wilson came in at No. 2 at QB there as well, with Mahomes again topping the list.

In Madden, as in real life, having a game-changing quarterback can be the difference between victory and defeat. With that in mind, Madden NFL 21 players would be wise to select the Seattle Seahawks and quarterback Russell Wilson.
