Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Tuesday, March 15 — about your Seattle Seahawks.

Ranking Top Available Free Agents Ahead Of New League Year

The new league year officially begins tomorrow, March 16, at 10:00 a.m. PT, which means that free agents can officially sign deals that they've been negotiating for the past two days.

With the free agency period now just hours away, teams, players and their agents are busy hammering out deals and trying to put the pieces together. Whether a team is in the rebuilding stage and looking for a player to build around, or they're just one piece away from Super Bowl contention and looking for the player to put them over the top, free agency represents a crucial period of the NFL calendar between the Super Bowl and the start of the NFL Draft.

On Tuesday morning, Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News ranked the league’s top 50 overall free agents before also ranking the top players by position.

Packers wide receiver Davante Adams tops the overall list of free agents, followed by Patriots cornerback J.C. Jackson and Saints tackle Terron Armstead. The highest ranking Seahawk on the list is tackle Duane Brown at number 21.

"He's been solid for many seasons with Houston and Seattle and with full durability and strong overall blocking, Brown returned to Pro Bowl status in 2021," Iyer said. After a shaky start to the season, Brown rebounded down the stretch, yielding just a single sack in the last eight games of the season and helping lead a rejuvenated ground game fueled by Rashaad Penny.

The only other Seahawks to make the top 50 was safety Quandre Diggs.

"Diggs has been solid coming over from the Lions with two consecutive 5-interception full seasons and is a good leader and clean-up presence for a defense," Iyer wrote. Diggs finished the season with a career-high 94 tackles as well, good for third on the team behind the record-setting duo of Jordyn Brooks (184) and Bobby Wagner (170).

Rashaad Penny (6) and Alex Collins (20) each made Iyer's list of the top 20 free agent running backs. Gerald Everett (8) and Will Dissly (12) each made the top 12 tight ends list, while the aforementioned Brown (4) and Brandon Shell (11) made Iyer's list of the top 14 offensive tackles.
