Tuesday Round-Up: Chris Carson Tied For First For Missed Tackles Forced

According to Pro Football Focus, Seahawks running back Chris Carson is tied for first for most missed tackles forced on the ground in 2018.

Good morning, 12s.

Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today – Tuesday, June 4 – about your Seattle Seahawks:

Chris Carson: The Runaway Train

We've all seen Seahawks running back Chris Carson come pummeling through the line of scrimmage running over any defender in his way. The 5' 11'' 222 lb. running back is built with pure muscle as he constantly trucks through players on his way to the end zone.

That's why this statistic from PFF comes at no surprise to us for the third-year Seahawk. On Monday, Pro Football Focus tweeted out a graphic ranking Carson at the top for most missed tackles forced on the ground during the 2018 season. Carson, forcing a total of 45 missed tackles, tied with two other running backs in the league; Tennessee Titans' Derrick Henry and Washington Redskins' Adrian Peterson.

There is obviously a lot more in a running back's arsenal than forcing missed tackles, but it can really separate a good RB from a great one. Missed tackles often come in different forms, such as a juke move that avoids contact altogether, breaking an arm tackle, or bulldozing over a defender—all are considered missed tackles.

If you take the time to watch the video in PFF's tweet, you'll notice that Carson's run game was analyzed a little bit further. In the 2018 season, he recorded 3.4 yards after contact per attempt (fourth in the NFL) and 25% first down or touchdown percentage (tied for 12th in the league). All of these statistics were ranked among 47 running backs with over 100 rushing attempts in 2018.

Carson played a key part in the Seahawks' running game last year, recording a total of 1,151 rushing yards, 247 rush attempts, and nine touchdowns. There are a lot of 12s out there that are looking forward to seeing what he can do this year for the team's offense.

Pro Football Focus is a notable website in the football community that thoroughly analyzes the National Football League and NCAA Division-I football. The analysis is extremely in-depth as it "covers every player on every play of every game for the most comprehensive analysis of player performance," says Profootballfocus.com.

Social Post Of The Day

Today's 'Social Post of the Day' comes from the newly-renamed Seahawks Dancers, as they complement their name change announcement with a motion graphic on Twitter.
