Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today – Thursday, July 21 – about your Seattle Seahawks.

Seahawks Legend Marcus Trufant Is Helping Youth In Need In Tacoma

Lifelong Tacoma native and Seahawks Legend Marcus Trufant has been a hometown hero for a very long time. From Woodrow Wilson High in Tacoma to Washington State to the Seahawks; Trufant has always represented his hometown. Now he's giving back to youth in need in the very community that raised him.

On Wednesday, Trufant visited the Beacon Center in his hometown to tour the facility and check out the new additions to the programs in place. The Life Enrichment Group (LEG) oversees the center, which provides a bevy of resources for youth, from housing to mental health assistance. Trufant has been an aide in the creation of the new expanded youth homeless services program.

"We are excited to introduce innovative mental health approaches that focuses the voice of young adults and provides genuine care and concern for the well-being of the individual," LEG founder Monika Matthews said in a statement regarding the program.

"The youth has been a soft spot to my family and my organization for a long time, so this right here is beautiful," Trufant said to the crowd "Kids to have a safe place, to feel safe, to see what it looks like. To be positive, to be in a successful situation; just near and dear to my heart."

Trufant founded the Trufant Family Foundation in 2005, dedicated to helping youth in Tacoma. The Beacon Center is his latest investment into the next generation of Washington and beyond.
