Good morning, 12s.
Here’s a look at what’s ‘out there’ for today – Thursday, February 7 – about your Seattle Seahawks:
The number 12 has been an undeniable icon for the Seahawks fan base since the 1980’s. Transport yourself back to a gameday in the Kingdome— December 15, 1984 to be exact. Seahawks president (at the time) Mike McCormack stood valiantly in front of tens of thousands of Seahawks fans and retired the number 12 jersey. This was the organization’s tribute to the best fan base in the NFL, the 12s.
Fast forward to the year 2003, and the 12s were honored once again, this time with a flag. The tradition of the 12 Flag began October 12, 2003 while the Seattle Seahawks were hosting the San Francisco 49ers in a regular season game. Prior to kickoff, 12 original season ticket holders hoisted the 12 Flag, thus beginning a long-lasting tradition for Seahawks home games.
