The Seahawks made some changes to their practice squad on Tuesday, signing running back Velus Jones Jr. and receiver Brenden Rice.

Tight end Marshall Lang and cornerback Mike Reid were released to make room on the practice squad.

Rice, a seventh-round pick of the Chargers last year, is the son of Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice, who finished his career in 2004 as a member of the Seahawks.

Rice appeared in three games with the Chargers as a rookie, and was released prior to the start of this season. He most recently spent time on New England's practice squad earlier this month. Rice, who began his college career at Colorado before transferring to USC, was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection as a senior when he had 45 catches for 791 yards and a team-high 12 touchdowns.

Jones, who appeared in five games for the Saints earlier this season, briefly spent time on Seattle's practice squad last month.

A third-round pick out of Tennessee in 2022, Jones was the SEC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2021 after totaling 628 kick return yards and a touchdown as well as 272 punt return yards. In the NFL, Jones has appeared in 34 games with two starts, playing for the Bears, Panthers and Saints, rushing for 165 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries while adding 135 receiving yards and a touchdown on 12 catches. As a kick returner, Jones has 48 returns for 1,244 yards with a long of 62, including eight returns for 183 yards for the Saints this season.
