The Seahawks signed running back Myles Gaskin to their practice squad on Thursday, bringing the former University of Washington standout back one day after he was released.

Running back Velus Jones Jr., who was signed on Wednesday, was released from the practice squad to make room for Gaskin.

Gaskin, a seventh-round pick of the Dolphins in 2019, has appeared in 46 games with 17 starts for three teams over the past six seasons, with his best stretch coming with Miami in 2020 and 2021 when he rushed for 1,192 with six touchdowns and had 622 receiving yards with six receiving touchdowns in 27 games, 17 of them starts.

A Lynnwood, Washington native who starred at O'Dea High School, Gaskin had a record-setting career with the Huskies, becoming the first player in Pac-12 history to rush for 1,000 yards in four straight seasons and just the second NCAA FBS player to surpass 1,200 yards four straight times along with Wisconsin's Ron Dayne. Gaskin finished his college career as Washington's career leader in rushing yards (5,323) and rushing and total touchdowns (57 and 62), and his rushing total ranks third in Pac-12 history.
