A day after DK Metcalf left the Seahawks' Week 7 win in Atlanta with a knee injury, head coach Mike Macdonald provided an update on the Pro-Bowl receiver, and the news is mostly positive.

Metcalf, Macdonald reported, has a minor MCL sprain, and Macdonald didn't rule out the possibility of Metcalf playing in Sunday's game against the Bills.

"He's got a minor MCL," Macdonald said. "Timeline, I'm not sure, it doesn't look like it's a long-term injury. You guys know DK, we know DK, he's going to probably do anything humanly possible to be able to play in this game, I would imagine. We'll assess as the week unfolds here."

After playing Sunday's game in Atlanta without cornerback Riq Woolen and Tre Brown, who are both dealing with injuries, Macdonald said the hope is to get Woolen back on the practice field Wednesday. The timeline is less clear on Brown.

"Riq, we're shooting for having him (in) some capacity on Wednesday," Macdonald said. "Tre, right now I'm not sure about his availability on Wednesday."

On an encouraging note for the offense, Macdonald said Abraham Lucas, who has been on the physically unable to perform list all season, could return to practice this week, though Macdonald did caution that even when Lucas does return to practice it will take some time for him to be game ready.

"There is a situation where he could come back and start practicing this week, but we haven't finalized that yet," Macdonald said. "But it's looking good on that front with Abe. When he does come back, there's a process to get him ready to play, so even if he did start to practice, I think you're looking at a good chunk of practice time to get him ready to go play a game."

Macdonald did not yet know if tackle George Fant, who has been on injured reserve since injuring his knee in the opener, will return to practice or not, nor did he have a timeline on Stone Forsythe returning from a hand injury. If neither of those two are back this week, Seahawks would again turn to rookie Michael Jerrell, who impressed teammates and coaches with his play on Sunday in his first career start.

"Mike Jerrell, if he had to go, we'd be excited about him," Macdonald said.
