Trevon Diggs has been an NFL star, an All-Pro cornerback who led the league in interceptions while playing for one of the league's most storied franchises.

But he has also experienced plenty of lows in his career, battling multiple injuries before eventually being released by the team that drafted him. And now, finally healthy and looking to get his career back on track, Diggs feels like Seattle is the perfect place to launch the latest chapter of his career.

"It's been a long journey, and I'm just extremely thankful," Diggs said Wednesday not long after signing with Seattle. "It's been a blessing from God, I thank him the most. I'm just thankful for the opportunity."

Diggs worked out for the Seahawks a day earlier, having previously had a workout with the Lions, and while he had more visits planned, he decided he didn't need to keep looking for his next home. Helping Diggs feel more at home is the fact that he is familiar with several players and coaches who he overlapped with in Detroit and at Alabama, including cornerback Josh Jobe, a college teammate; defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator Karl Scott, his position coach in college; outside linebackers DeMarcus Lawrence and Dante Fowler Jr., teammates in Dallas; and defensive coordinator Aden Durde, an assistant at Dallas during Diggs' time there.

"I had a visit with Detroit, and I was supposed to see a couple of other teams, but I liked it here a lot," Diggs said. "This feels like home. I've got a lot of familiar faces, Coach Scott, AD, so those guys knowing me, knowing where my heart is, knowing how I want to compete, it felt right."

"Just finding somewhere that felt like home, finding somewhere where I'll have an opportunity to compete and have an opportunity to play. It just felt right."

In addition to the familiar faces in Seattle, another draw for Diggs was a chance to play in head coach Mike Macdonald's defense.

"Amazing," he said. "It looks amazing. They get to the quarterback, they create turnovers, they do all the right things, so I'm excited to hopefully be a part of it. Just go out there and compete and just try to help this team win, that's all I want to do."

Diggs comes to Seattle knowing he has to prove himself despite starting his career as an All-Pro and two-time Pro-Bowl selection after battling injuries that limited his availability over the past three seasons, with his time in Dallas coming to an end when the Cowboys waived him late in the season, leading to a two-game stint with the Packers to finish the season.

"I'm just coming here to compete," Diggs said. "I just want to come here and compete, earn my keep and do everything I can to earn a spot here and help this team win."

For Diggs, one of the main goals this year is one that some players without his injury history might take for granted.

"I just want to be able to play healthy this year, full season, and help," he said.

And Diggs confirmed this is the healthiest he has been in a long time, saying, he is "most definitely" fully healthy, adding, "This is my first offseason that I've been not rehabbing, just actually doing offseason training. A lot of trainers helped me put the work in to get to where I'm at today. I'm truly thankful for that. It's a blessing from God, honestly, to be able to come out here again."

So now that he's healthy, what is Diggs looking to show as he starts this new chapter with the Seahawks?

"I'm looking to show that I'm still the best," he said. "I'm looking to show that I want to win, be there for my teammates, be a great teammate, and be a great player."
