The Seahawks placed receiver Marquise Goodwin on injured reserve Saturday, the result of shoulder and wrist injuries that kept him out of practice this week and that caused him to leave last week's game, though he was able to return.

Outside linebacker Vi Jones was signed off of the practice squad to take Goodwin's spot on the roster. Additionally, the Seahawks elevated tight end Tyler Mabry and receiver Cade Johnson off the practice squad for Sunday's game.

Goodwin, who signed with the Seahawks in the offseason, was Seattle's No. 3 receiver throughout the year, catching 27 passes for 387 yards. He matches his career high with four touchdown receptions, including two in Seattle's Week 7 win over the Chargers. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Friday that Goodwin, who had been listed as doubtful on the injury report, sprained the SC joint in his shoulder.

Jones, who signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of NC State, has appeared in three games this season as a practice squad elevation, playing 52 percent of Seattle's special teams snaps in those games.

Mabry has spent the past three seasons with the Seahawks since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2020, primarily on the practice squad, though he did appear in six games last year. With Will Dissly going on injured reserve this week, Mabry gives the Seahawks a third tight end on Sunday behind Noah Fant and Colby Parkinson.

"Tyler has been here for a long time, he has been with us," Carroll said Friday. "He is totally in the groove with us in terms of all of his assignments, all of the flexibility, and he can play all of the spots. He's a blocker and he can catch the ball really well, so we are really comfortable with him playing, we have no problem. He can play in all situations."

Johnson, who signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of South Dakota State last year, was also elevated from the practice squad for Seattle's Week 8 win over the Giants.

The Seattle Seahawks take on the New York Jets, the 21st meeting between the two teams, for Week 17 of the 2022 season. Take a look back at some of their previous matchups.
