Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today – Monday, June 13 – about your Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf was selected by NFL.com analyst and former player Bucky Brooks for a retrospective Top-15 players from the 2019 NFL Draft list. Metcalf prepares to enter his fourth season since being selected by Seattle No. 64 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. In that span, Metcalf has been on the receiving end of 29 touchdowns, the most for a non-first round pick since 1990.
Metcalf finished the 2021 season with 75 receptions for 967 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Seahawks. It's the second-consecutive 10-plus touchdown season for Metcalf, Brooks points out several key traits that have aided in Metcalf's early success.
"The big-bodied receiver has quickly emerged as a potent playmaker on the perimeter," said Brooks "A super-sized pass catcher with world-class speed, Metcalf has scored 29 touchdowns on an assortment of big plays, underscoring the unique challenge of defending him. If opponents give the 6-foot-4, 235-pounder free access down the sideline, he will win the track meet against overmatched defenders without the size or speed to challenge him on 50-50 balls. Against press coverage, Metcalf bullies defensive backs at the line before dispatching them with a push or pull that leaves him wide open running across the field."
Last week, Metcalf was selected the No. 11 overall wideout league-wide heading into the 2022 season by Pro Football Focus.
