Friday Round-Up: Michael Dickson Recognized On NFL.com's All-Rookie Team

Seahawks punter Michael Dickson earns a spot on NFL.com's 2018 All-Rookie team.

Good morning, 12s.

Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today - Friday, December 14 - about your Seattle Seahawks as the team readies for its Week 15 road game against the San Francisco 49ers. Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. PT on Sunday, December 16 with television coverage on FOX.

Michael Dickson Earns Spot On All-Rookie Team

From running back Rashaad Penny's recent production on the ground to tight end Will Dissly's early-season emergence as a pass catcher to Tre Flowers' consistency at right cornerback, and from Rasheem Green and Jacob Martin's pass-rushing efforts to linebacker Shaquem Griffin's special teams play, the Seahawks have received significant contributions this season from their 2018 draft class. Perhaps no 2018 draft pick's contributions have been more significant to the Seahawks, however, than those of punter Michael Dickson, the Australian native who Seattle traded up to select in the fifth round and who as of this past Wednesday ranked second among all punters in fan votes for the 2019 Pro Bowl.

Dickson, whose 44.2-yard net average leads all punters this season, was recognized by NFL.com this week, earning a spot on the league site's 2018 NFL All-Rookie defensive team. Here's what Around the League writer Chris Wesseling had to say about Dickson's 2018 season so far:

Armed with an arsenal of dropkicks, knuckleballs, pop-ups, coffin-corners and bold fakes, Dickson is already the most fun punter in the league. To be clear, this isn't a case of style over substance. The former Aussie rules star leads all punters with a net average of 44.2 yards this season. It might not be long before he's rivaling perennial Rams All-Pro Johnny Hekker as the position's gold standard.
