The Seahawks had a chance to win their preseason finale in dramatic fashion, but unfortunately Jason Myers' 52-yard game-winning field goal attempt missed to the right, leading to the game ending in a 9-9 tie.

While the result wasn't what Seattle wanted, there were still plenty of performances that stood out and positives that head coach Mike Macdonald and his team will be able to build off of heading into the regular season.

Here are five rapid reactions to Friday's 9-9 tie at Arrowhead Stadium.

1. Jalen Milroe had by far his best preseason performance.
Early in training camp, it was pretty evident that Jalen Milroe had grown quite a bit as a passer heading into his second year in the NFL. But that progress that the 2025 third-round put on display in practice had yet to fully show up in Seattle's first two preseason games.
On Friday night, however, Milroe looked sharp and decisive in what was, by a good margin, his best preseason performance in two seasons.

As is always the case, there were a few throws and moments Milroe would no doubt want back, but overall it was a really strong outing, with Milroe completing 16 of 26 passes for 223 yards, a touchdown pass to Nick Vannett, no interceptions and a 101.9 passer rating. Milroe, who also rushed for 20 yards on seven carries, had several accurate and decisive throws on third down, and also looked sharp throwing the ball downfield, including a 40-yard strike out of his own end zone to Cody White, a 24-yarder to tight end Elijah Arroyo, and completions of 26 and 30 yards to rookie Emmanuel Henderson Jr., the latter of which helped set up the game-winning field goal attempt, though that kick missed.

2. Trevon Diggs' limited playing time included a big play.
Trevon Diggs has been with the Seahawks for less than two weeks, but the veteran cornerback still was on the field to make a brief appearance for his first game action with his new team. And Diggs, who led the NFL in interceptions with 11 in 2021 on his way to first-team All-Pro honors, showed off those ball skills with an interception for Seattle's only defensive takeaway.
Diggs' day started with a good tackle on a Kansas City run, but he also had a missed opportunity in the open field when he failed to bring down Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. But Diggs' night will best be remembered for his pick, which came thanks to a combination of good coverage—he was step for step with his receiver on the route—and an underthrown pass that allowed Diggs to easily step in front of the intended target for an interception. Milroe and Seattle's offense were able to take advantage of that turnover by driving for a field goal for the team's first score of the evening.

3. The defense came through with a big goal-line stand.
The Chiefs, who trailed by three points after three quarters, appeared poised to take the lead early in the fourth quarter when a penalty for unnecessary roughness set up first-and-goal at Seattle's 4-yard line. Seattle's defense, however, wasn't ready to let that penalty lead to a touchdown.
The Chiefs handed the ball off to Brashard Smith on first down, and he was met by a wall of white jersey who held him to a 2-yard gain. Another handoff to Smith resulted in a 1-yard gain, and on third-and-1, Smith got the call again, and outside linebacker Jalen Gaines came flying off the edge to tackle Smith from behind for no gain. Not wanting to test their luck on fourth down after seeing three straight runs get stuffed, the Chiefs instead settled for the chip shot field goal to tie the game at 9-9, which ended up being the final score.
It was a stand made late in the third preseason game, and by players who very well might not be on the roster after this weekend, but it was still the kind of effort and execution that Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald surely loved to see out of his team in a big moment.

4. Receivers Cody White and Emmanuel Henderson Jr. both came through with big plays.
While the Seahawks first four receiver spots are pretty much locked in with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, Rashid Shaheed and Tory Horton, there is definitely room for a receiver to two to join that group on the 53-man roster. And while one preseason game isn't the be all and end all, a strong performance certainly can't hurt, and it was Cody White and rookie Emmanuel Henderson Jr. who stepped up with big catches and explosive plays.
White led the Seahawks with 69 yards on three catches, including a 40-yard gain, while Henderson added 58 yards on three catches, with a long of 30. Had Myers been able to make that game-winning attempt, Henderson's 30-yarder on that drive would have been a key moment in setting that up.

5. Michael Dickson is in midseason form.
While kicker Jason Myers will want to work out a few kinks before the regular season starts, having missed multiple kicks this preseason, including a field goal and extra point on Friday, punter Michael Dickson definitely looks to be regular-season ready.
Dickson averaged 51.2 yards per punt on six punts, two of which were downed inside the 20, and his shortest punt of the night might have been his best, a 38-yarder that went out of bounds at the 5-yard line.
