GLENDALE, Ariz.—It took a little while longer than they might have liked to take control of the game, but the Seahawks improved to 2-0 on Sunday thanks to big performances from quarterback Drew Lock and receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and another great defensive performance.

With their 31-7 win over the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium, the Seahawks earned their 12th straight victory, postseason included, the longest winning streak in franchise history, passing the 11-game winning streak the 2005 team had during the regular season. The win was also Seattle's 10th straight over the Arizona Cardinals.

Here are five rapid reaction to Sunday's win:

1. Jaxon Smith-Njigba had yet another huge game.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the reigning AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year, has had so many big performances dating back to the start of last season. His greatness can almost be taken for granted.

Almost.

But there was no missing how great of a player Smith-Njigba is on Sunday, not with a performance that stood out, even by his lofty standards. On just Seattle's second offensive play of the game, Smith-Njigba burned his defender to get open deep, and Drew Lock hit him in stride for an 82-yard touchdown, the longest of his NFL career.

After that, it took a while for the offense to get back on track, but eventually Lock and Smith-Njigba broke out in the second half, connecting for two more touchdowns to give Smith-Njigba the first three-touchdown game of his career.

Smith-Njigba, who totaled 122 yards and scored a touchdown in last week's season opener, finished Sunday with nine catches for 155 yards, the fourth-highest single-game yardage total of his career.

2. Drew Lock was outstanding in relief of Sam Darnold.

All week long, Seahawks players and coached expressed their confidence in Drew Lock, who started Sunday in place of an injured Sam Darnold, and for the second week in a row, Lock showed why the Seahawks have so much faith in their backup quarterback.

Starting his first game for the Seahawks since 2023, Lock had one of the best games of his career, completing 19 of 26 passes for 235 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, giving him a 139.1 passer rating. Most importantly, for the second week in a row, Lock played turnover-free ball to help lead Seattle to a win.

3. Seattle's defense locked in after giving up an early touchdown.

It was a tough afternoon for Arizona's offense, but the Cardinals did manage to put together one long drive late in the first quarter that they capped with a Jacoby Brissett touchdown pass to Trey McBride on the first play of the second quarter. That play came on fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line, and left the Seahawks defense upset with itself for allowing the score. And from that point on, Seattle's defense was almost impossible to move the ball against.

Not long after the touchdown, a Jadarian Price fumble gave Arizona the ball near midfield, but the Seahawks got a quick three-and-out, setting the tone for what would be a dominant performance the rest of the way. After that lone Cardinals touchdown, they had six full possessions—Arizona also had a two-play possession at the end of the game—and those six drives resulted in five punts and an interception, with Arizona managing only three first downs.

Overall, the Cardinals managed just 10 first downs, 151 total yards and averaged 3.2 yards per play.

4. Emanuel Wilson led a strong rushing performance for Seattle.

Coming into the game, the running backs everyone was talking about were first-round picks Jadarian Price and Jeremiya Love, and while the two rookies from Notre Dame both had some strong moments, it was Emanuel Wilson, a free-agent addition, who had the best performance, rushing 21 times for 91 yards, including a lot of hard-fought yardage on Seattle's final possession that helped the Seahawks close out the game with a touchdown.

Price did fumble, but otherwise played well, rushing 13 times for 52 carries, adding eight more yards on one reception, but he did exit the game early with a chest injury.

5. Julian Love did it again.

In Week 1, safety Julian Love was arguably the best player on the field for a defense full of great players, and in Week 2, Love again came up with some big plays.

Most notably, Love intercepted Brissett in the third quarter, a spectacular diving catch that led to an eventual Jason Myers Field goal. Love, who had an interception last week as well, also had a key third-down pass break-up on a throw intended for tight end Trey McBride to force a punt.
