Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori passed his physical on Tuesday, an important step in his return from the ankle surgery he had last month.

Emmanwori opened training camp on the physically unable to perform list, the result of surgery he had on the ankle he injured in practice days before Super Bowl LX. Emmanwori was able to play in the Super Bowl and took part in the offseason workout program, but the decision was made before the start of training camp to operate on the ankle to give him a better long-term outlook with the ankle.

"I think the best way to describe it is something that he's been dealing with since the Super Bowl, he was able to perform, like able to train, do some things in the offseason program, but just got to the point where it was the best for him for the long term, just to go ahead and get it fixed," Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said at the beginning of training camp. "And so that's what we all decided to do. It's really the best thing for him, for now and the foreseeable future, for the rest of his career."

Emmanwori, a 2025 second-round pick out of South Carolina, missed most of the first four games of his rookie season with an ankle injury suffered early in the season-opener, but once he returned, the versatile defensive back quickly became a key piece in Macdonald's defense, recording 81 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, 11 passes defensed and one interception. Emmanwori was named to the PFWA All-Rookie team and finished second in voting for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

The Seahawks opened the week with a practice on Monday, August 10 at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.
