The Seahawks got a brief glimpse of Nick Emmanwori's playmaking ability in Sunday's season opener, with the rookie safety shooting into the backfield early in the 49ers' opening drive to tackle running back Christian McCaffrey for a 2-yard loss.

Unfortunately for Emmanwori and the Seahawks, he injured his ankle on the play when teammate Leonard Williams fell into his leg. The hope after Sunday's game was that Emmanwori did not have the more serious high ankle sprain, but Monday brought word that that is indeed the injury, meaning a longer recovery.

"It is a high ankle for Nick," Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said. "Let's call it week-to-week at this point. If we make a move, it would be probably the next day or two, because we've got to decide whether or not to make a move on that front."

Asked to clarify if making a move meant potentially putting Emmanwori on injured reserve, Macdonald said, "That's under consideration, yeah. We'll see here in the next few days."

If the Seahawks were to place Emmanwori on injured reserve, he would have to sit out at least four games before being eligible to return.

In more positive injury news, the Seahawks are hoping they could get back all three players who missed the opener due to injury, outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (knee), receiver Dareke Young (hamstring) and receiver Jake Bobo (concussion).

"Optimistic with all three," Macdonald said. "Chenna is definitely practicing. We'll see Dareke as it unfolds, and same thing with Bobo, but optimistic about those latter two."
