With a pair of safeties, Julian Love and Ty Okada, ruled out for Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders, the Seahawks added depth at that spot by elevating Maxen Hook off of their practice squad.

Running back Velus Jones Jr. was also elevated, his second elevation in the first three games.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said Friday that the plan is for AJ Finley to play in place of Love, who suffered a calf injury in practice this week, while Rodney Thomas II will continue to start in place of Okada, who will miss a third straight game with a hamstring injury. Hook, who first joined the Seahawks practice squad last season, will provide depth behind Finley and Thomas.

Hook came into the league as an undrafted rookie out of Toledo, where he was a three-time first-team All-MAC selection and a two-time team captain. After going undrafted last year, Hook first signed with the Eagles, then waived prior to the start of the season. He signed to Seattle's practice squad in October, then signed a reserve/future contract after the season.

Presuming Hook is active Sunday and sees playing time at least on special teams, he will be making his regular-season NFL debut.

Jones was also elevated for Seattle's season-opening win over New England, playing 17 snaps on special teams.
