For the entirety of the game, the Seahawks defense was making life for the New England Patriots very difficult. In 15 offensive drives, the Patriots punted the ball away eight times, were intercepted twice, and fumbled the ball once. They didn't score until the fourth quarter. The one fumble was forced by linebacker Derick Hall who had 2.0 sacks, two tackles for loss, a quarterback hit and a forced fumble during the game.

On the play Hall said, "Big Cat (Leonard Williams) being Big Cat, he jetted off the ball and I just got off on his collar and was able to power the tackle and loop out from there and be able to get a strip-sack on the ball. Kudos to my boy Big Cat for making that play for me."

After that, Sam Darnold and the offense put together a five-play drive to get into the endzone for the first time. The scoring drive featured an AJ Barner 11-yard reception, a one-yard Kenneth Walker III run, a nine-yard catch by Cooper Kupp and a 16-yard touchdown reception by Barner.

Following Jason Myers' successful point after attempt, Seattle was up 19-0 at the start of the fourth quarter.
