Friday's Injury Report

Both Jamal Adams (knee) and Kenny McIntosh (knee/hamstring), who didn't practice all week, are officially ruled out for Sunday's season debut against the L.A. Rams.

Rookie first round pick Devon Witherspoon may have to wait to make his NFL debut as he is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury that limited him in practice all week, but head coach Pete Carroll did say that he, "could possibly play." Also listed as questionable is guard Damien Lewis who was held out of practice on Thursday afternoon due to a shoulder injury but was a full participant in Friday's practice. Despite being questionable, head coach Pete Carroll is confident that he will be ready to go. "He just banged his shoulder a little bit, but he's fine."

The Seahawks received good news on a handful of players that either didn't practice on Thursday, or were limited participants. The defense will be near full strength for Sunday as linebackers Jordyn Brooks (NIR-resting/knee), Boye Mafe (illness), Darrell Taylor (shoulder), Derick Hall (shoulder), and defensive end Mike Morris were full participants in practice on Friday and are expected to be available to play. Also expected to be ready to go on Sunday are wide receivers Cody Thompson (shoulder) and Jaxon Smith-Njigba (wrist). Smith-Njigba suffered a wrist fracture just a few weeks ago, but fully participated in practice all week and showed no signs of being affected by the injury. When asked if the rookie wide receiver showed any limitations due to the injury, coach Carroll said, "No, he hasn't shown one." The offense received more good news as Kenneth Walker III will play on Sunday despite being limited in Thursday's practice due to a groin injury.

As expected, the Rams have officially ruled out wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring), rookie quarterback Stetson Bennett (right shoukder) and tight end Hunter Long (thigh) for Sunday's game. Also, neither offensive lineman Brian Allen nor wide receiver Van Jefferson practiced on Friday afternoon, but they were only held out for rest and will play on Sunday.

Thursday's Injury Report

The Seahawks held a handful of players out of practice on Thursday for a variety of reasons. Linebacker Jordyn Brooks, guard Damien Lewis, and linebacker Boye Mafe joined Jamal Adams and Kenny McIntosh on the injury report for Thursday. The team decided to rest Jordyn Brooks on Thursday, giving him an extra day of rest before he gets set to make his season debut after suffering a knee injury last season. Damien Lewis joins the list of Seahawks dealing with shoulder issues as Derick Hall and Darrell Taylor were listed with shoulder injuries on Wednesday's report. Boye Mafe missed practice on Thursday due to an illness.

Rookies Devon Witherspoon (hamstring) and Derick Hall (shoulder) remained limited in practice and running back Kenneth Walker III joined them as he was limited in today's practice due to a groin issue.

Defenders Mike Morris and Darrell Taylor, who were limited participants on Wednesday, were full participants on Thursday. Wide receivers Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cody Thompson were full participants for the second day in a row as they have been dealing with wrist and shoulder issues respectively.

Wednesday's Injury Report

A couple of Seahawks did not participate in practice on Wednesday afternoon, including safety Jamal Adams who is still working his way back from the season ending torn quadriceps tendon he suffered in the season opener last season, and rookie running back Kenny McIntosh who is dealing with a knee and hamstring issue.

A handful of key defensive players, including rookie first round pick Devon Witherspoon (hamstring), were limited participants in practice. Fellow rookies Mike Morris and Derick Hall were limited participants, both dealing with a shoulder, but according to head coach Pete Carroll, they are making progress. "Today will be important to see them again, but Mike (Morris) had a really good Monday, and Derick (Hall) was a little bit limited on Monday," said coach Carroll. "We'll see how he does today, but those guys are working to see if they can find their way back in."

Darrell Taylor is also trying to get back from shoulder problems, but Pete Carroll is confident that he will be able to make it back for Week 1. When asked about Taylor's health, coach Carroll said, "He's fired up. He's ready to go."

The wide receiver group was able to fully practice on Wednesday as rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba (wrist) and Cody Thompson (shoulder) fully participated in practice. Smith-Njigba suffered a fractured wrist in the team's preseason matchup vs. the Dallas Cowboys on August 19, but the rookie is expected to be ready for the regular season opener on Sunday. Coach Carroll told the media prior to Wednesday's practice that Smith-Njigba is doing "quite well," and is "not hesitating to do everything throughout the game plan and the preparation and all of that."

The Rams listed three players as "did not participate in practice," most notably star wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Rams head coach Sean McVay was asked about the status of Kupp, rookie quarterback Stetson Bennett, and tight end Hunter Long, and he told reporters that all three would not play on Sunday.
