Sunday's Injury Report

The Seahawks began preparation for their Wednesday night opener against the Patriots with a practice on Thursday, which was a Monday in terms of their game week, then after a day off, had their usual "Wednesday" practice on Saturday, but per league requirements, the first injury report for both teams was due Sunday. And Sunday's injury report, coming after what would be a usual Thursday practice, featured a couple of previously unknown injuries for the Seahawks.

Starting safety Ty Okada was a non-participant due to a hamstring injury, which is obviously a concern not only because he is a starter, but because the Seahawks are pretty thin at safety when it comes to their 53-man roster, with Julian Love and Nick Emmanwori being the only other two safeties. And Emmanwori, of course, is coming back from ankle surgery—he was listed as limited on Sunday—and his status for Week 1 is uncertain.

The Seahawks do have multiple safety options on their practice squad in Rodney Thomas II, AJ Finley, Maxen Hook and D'Anthony Bell, and feel confident in any of those players should they be called upon on Wednesday.

"Readiness," defensive coordinator Aden Durde said when asked what he's seen from the practice squad safeties. "They breathe confidence into us as coaches, play callers, head coaches. Everyone sees the work they put in, and they're ready to take the opportunity that arises when it comes up."

Okada was the only non-participant in Sunday's practice, while four players were listed as limited—Emmanwori, guard Anthony Bradford (knee), receiver Tory Horton (hamstring) and tackle Josh Jones (knee). Rookie cornerback Julian Neal, who missed a significant part of camp with a quadricep injury, was listed as a full participant, as was running back Emanuel Wilson, who missed time in camp with a hamstring injury.

For the Patriots, three players did not practice, starting defensive tackle Christian Barmore (knee), running back TreVeyon Henderson (ankle), and reserve center Ben Brown (knee).
