What do you think is the common thread of not being able to take advantage of the good opportunities?

Yeah, for us tonight, it was just overall just sloppy play. There was some positive things we did, but it was just overshadowed by the negative things. Offensively was not good enough. Didn't move the ball good enough. We've got to execute better. The main goal in this game was to control the front; we did not do that. Their front controlled us and it wasn't good enough for us. We have to find a way to get better there. Got to score points, right? So got to find a way to get in the end zone. Had multiple opportunities; just didn't capitalize on those.

Regarding two-minute warning

The plan at the end of the game was kicking the ball out of bounds so we could utilize the (two-minute warning), and we did not execute that. Again, goes to the entire game. You know, frustrating that we're not executing the things that we're supposed to do.

You mentioned the lack of execution in the red zone, mistakes. Also didn't have a lot of explosive plays. How concerned are you about that, especially with Nico Collins suffering that injury?

We want to be able to be explosive. We had some opportunities down the field; we just didn't connect on them. We had guys open there. Just didn't connect, didn't make plays, didn't finish in the end zone. So we've just got to find a way to do a better job of finishing whatever the play call, executing the play. Just have to make sure we're able to score points.

With the way you played the last two games, do you feel like the offense regrets tonight?

Today wasn't a good day for our entire team. Not just one side. All three phases did not do a good job today. We didn't play winning football, so you can't expect to come out with a win when you don't do the things that winning teams do.

Nico Collins in the concussion protocol?

Yeah, right now he has a concussion, so (we'll) evaluate him as the week goes on.

The defense had some critical penalties early on. What did you make of it and how did that affect the game early on?

Penalties always affect it, especially the critical moments. Third down there at the end of the game, like we're going to get the ball back and it's just silly penalties. We have to be a smart football team. We have to make smart decisions. We didn't in critical times. Again, that's not winning football.

When it comes to the play on the sideline with Azeez Al-Shaair, what did you say to him?

Probably have to look at the play to see what happened. I saw it as a tackle. Started in bounds so I got to look at it and see why that call.

And Christian Harris? What happened to Stingley Jr.?

Yeah, I didn't see. Again, I've got to see what happened on those. Again, it's things that we can control. I always look at penalties or things that we control, so we have to do a better job controlling those and making smart decisions.

There were a few plays, especially in the second half, where there was just free rushers (regarding C.J.) somebody at his feet. How do you get that cleaned up to pick up some of the disguised blitzes?

Yeah, when we continue to have the pressures that we have, until we get it picked up it'll keep happening. We got to do better job coaching and got to do a better job executing it.

On where this team is right now

We are what our record says we are. We've got another opportunity. Doesn't matter. We've got another opportunity coming next week. Short week. Doesn't matter. Got to flush this and move on and get ready for the next one.

What are your thoughts on how the offense played and why it was tough to get points?

It was a lot of things. I think first I got to point to myself and missing a couple throws. I got to work through the pressure. They were bringing some blitzes, got us to do some things to run some different schemes I think it will help. I just think we didn't get a rhythm. They did a good job keeping the shell in some of the third and shorts. You know, plays like that, we just got to execute. But I think it starts with me and I got to do a better job of distributing the ball better. You know, when I have good pockets, working them and making sure I'm getting the ball out on time and to the right guy. So I'll look inward and then there are some other things we'll watch film and get better at.

Tytus mentioned that he felt like the offense was kind of complacent to start. Do you agree with that statement? If so...

I don't know what he meant by complacent, but I think the type of offense we're running is like I told ya'll, death by a thousand cuts. Sometime when you live by a sword it's hard because you're not taking a bunch of deep downfield shots, but you're asked to be really good on first, second down, time and time again. So something we just got to get better at. It's still new to a lot of us, but, yeah, I definitely think we can be better at that and that will definitely help.

As you guys were kind of getting closer, the drive before the one you all scored, what did you feel like stopped you all there?

It's tough. We got down there pretty good. Our defense kept us in the whole game. Got to help those guys out and score some points somehow, some way. I tried to throw it over the guy. He made a hell of a play jumping and knocking it down. They zoned a lot of stuff off, so I was trying to just make plays. It's hard to throw over guys in the red zone. It wasn't easy down there, but we got to find some type of way to score some points, however it looks.

If Nico can't play, what do you all have to do to pick that up?

I thought he played really well. I got to find a way to get him to touch the ball. I got to throw him a better ball. That's just the bottom line. It's going to be tough. He's our best player on offense. He's one of the best players in the league time and time again. We also got to find ways to get him the ball in better situations. So that starts with me trying to get us in the right looks. But, yeah, it would suck. Hopefully he'll be okay and we have a short week, but if not we got to just step up in other ways, and, you know, put more on my plate hopefully and try to help us out.

How valuable is communication on just the plays where they're sending those disguises, especially a few times in the send half, backs were coming at you. How important is communication in those situations?

We were in a lot of situations where they really didn't show zero blitz on film on second and long when you're kind of backed up, so that one caught us off guard. When it's loud it's hard to sometimes get the protections right and you got to just sometimes throw hot; sometimes you can pick it up. So it's a little bit in between, but something definitely we got to look at and get better at because we've gotten it a couple weeks in a row. So if we can do that we can hit some bigger plays.

We've just got to be better. Make plays when we're supposed to make plays. That's about it.

On the team's mentality when facing adversity) "I'm not going to say it's hard, but other teams scout us just like we do. They know what we're good at and what we've got to work on. Going into a game you've got to know what you've got to be better at.

He's a good receiver. All of them are good over there. They play together. They make plays. You've got to make plays when you're supposed to make plays.

On playing better defensively later in the game

We just knew we weren't upholding the standard that we hold ourselves to defensively. We just had to get back to doing what we do. We've just got to buy into what we're doing.

On why he felt they lost the game

I'm starting to look at the stats. From what I saw is they had 150 yards at halftime. At one point, I think we had maybe 12 yards. They had two touchdowns, we obviously didn't have any. They scored twice in the red zone, got some explosive plays. When you look at how the game started, we were stuffed in a hole pretty early, and you're trying to dig yourself out. That's never going to be a recipe for success.

It's all us. It starts with us. It starts with us and the details, going down there and executing. I think it's all about us. Kudos to Seattle, kudos to them but it's all us.

On if it feels fixable

Of course, yes. I believe we have the right people in the building to fix it. Short week coming up, we're going to take it to the 49ers next week.

On if the Texans' offense has regressed in the past two games

Yeah, for sure. We just didn't play good complimentary football at all. I have to go look and see everything we did but, I just know we didn't play good at all today on offense. We've got to be better. Us leaders on offense, we have to step it up another notch, and we have to hold each other accountable first, and everybody else. We just have to do a better job.

On how Howard feels after today

I feel bad right now. We lose games like that, it feels terrible. I feel like every game we lost this season is pretty much lost the same way. It's something that has been common for us this season so far that we have to break through. Just get better.

On what led to low energy

That I don't know, I'm going to be honest with you. I just know we didn't have the same the same fire, that same energy that we played with the past couple weeks. I know coach Niko (Collins) said he felt it. I felt it out there on the field. I think it's due to us not having a fast start. When we have a fast start, everything goes good. When we don't have a fast start, the energy is lower so we have to get better.
