Q. Brian, just give us your overall first impressions of tonight's game?

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: A lot of great things. The second half was really well played. I thought defensively they were amazing. I think three or four three-and-outs. Thought they were awesome. Couple of the redzone stops. Jonathan Mingo the first half made an incredible play on a punt return. Stopped it and then obviously muffed the fumble there late, defense goes right back out there. A little bit of training camp football. A little sloppy, but that's kind of what you deal with. But overall I thought the team effort to get the win against a good opponent was really good. Things we obviously need to clean up: penalties. They threw a lot of penalties really on both teams, but that's what the preseason is for. Work on your hand placement, get better. Overall, I was really, really proud of our guys.

Q. Camden has made plays, had multiple touches in training camp; two tonight. What have you seen from him and what can you say about his performance?

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: The game is not too big for him. He does that every day in practice. We see it all the time. You know, thought it was really, really good throw by Sam. Tight coverage. But they trust him. And then Joe's throw on the fade. He just blasted and one-handed catch. But he's been doing that the whole time. What I love about him is he does the little things, too. You watch him on special teams and one-on-one drills. He realizes that that's how you make this football team when you got a receiver room that is filled with George Pickens, CeeDee Lambs, people like that. That's what matters. So, you know, really good day. Got to keep stacking them like he's been doing.

Q. It seemed like you warned him last week about getting reps to the first team. Does this confirm doing in a game what you've been seeing in practice?

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: Talking about Cam?

Q. Yeah.

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: Yeah, we've wanted to get him in there a little bit with the first team. When we put him in there he's done a really good job. We actually moved him over to that position for the second one and we moved him over there. And like I said, throw from Joe was terrific, but the catch was incredible as well. But, yeah, he's just consistent, and that's what we want as coaches. We want people that are consistent and the same every day. Yeah, they might have a bad day or dip, but they bring it right back.

Q. And defensively, four trips inside the red zone. They only scored seven points. That's what you kind of want to see from your defense?

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: The defense's job is to keep people out of the end zone. That's what we're tasked to do. I'm fine when a game a 7-3, 10-7. I don't care. But I thought they were terrific. A little sloppy early on, you know, and we gave them some penalties early on, but thought they really buttoned down. The pass rush was really good. We let Milroe get out a few times. He's very athletic. Overall I was very, very pleased. Any time you can get three-and-outs and four-and-outs and red zone stops, that's what you want.

Q. How would you evaluate your quarterbacks tonight, specifically with up and down play up front?

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: It's hard to speak on quarterbacks when you don't watch the film, but I thought both guys functioned outstanding. You know, they both were tasked with going out there and playing against heavy pressure. A Mike Macdonald defense is going to be a heavy pressure team. They brought a bunch of things against us that not that we weren't prepared for, but we didn't handle very well, so they were taking some shots. But they just hung in there and made the throws when they had to make them. They were both very efficient. That's what we want. We evaluate quarterbacks by a couple things: One, scoring points, two protecting the football. I thought both guys did that. Joe with his legs, and he's pretty much unstoppable on quarterback sneaks. So didn't take me long to figure out that I wasn't going to do anything different. I was just going to let him sneak it. Big, powerful man. But they both played well.

Q. Would you say your offensive line settled in in the second half?

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: I think so. A lot of moving parts. It's hard. A lot of moving parts. Like I said, they threw a lot of things at us. Want to look at the film. Definitely some leaky moments. But early on especially we struggled to move their guys up front. I think you'll see that. That's why the run numbers in the first half weren't very good. They were doing a good job plugging up the middle. So we started the second half actually with a perimeter play. We have those. We didn't want to show too many of them. But, you know, give them some credit because I thought early on their defensive front was really a handful for us.

Q. Just on that, is it tough to go evaluate running backs when those kind of things are happening?

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: You got a nose block, and, again, I thought all our guys ran hard. Give it up for Malik Davis. I mean, he's amazing. Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, whatever the day is, 14th of August, I love that guy.

Q. You think you can expand a little bit more on all your running backs, Jaydon, Phil? What did you like from each of those guys?

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: I think I'll work backwards. I thought late in the game Izzi ran really hard. It was heavy box and they knew we were in four-minute. I'm really proud of our ability to stay on the field and not have to give them the ball back after you got the big stop after the muffed punt. I thought Izzi ran really, really hard. I thought the receivers blocked really well. Malik, he's just a slasher, man. His vision and understanding and blocking schemes, all that, I think was great. You know, Phil had some really good runs. And then Jaydon there wasn't a whole lot there. You get more screens and things like that, he's a weapon. So again, I'll know more watching the film. They all ran hard. We found our rhythm a little bit in the second half. You know, there is certainly a lot to clean up there.

Q. Any early thoughts on Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence and what they did today?

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: Not really. Seemed like Caleb was out pretty quick. That was the plan, of course. We stick to the plan. I thought Malachi had a couple really good rushes. I saw him effecting the quarterback. I thought he definitely settled in. For the most part those guys, we see it every day. They're going to get great work against the Saints here in a couple days. All in all, I thought they played pretty well.

Q. Do you have any update an Phil?

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: Yeah, he was okay. I talked to him. He's okay. I think he came out okay. A little bumps and bruises. Justin Barron, he got rocked a little bit, and then Phil. But I think everybody is okay. You know, we'll figure out a little bit more when we wake up in Oxnard tomorrow morning. Get them all treated. I know the masseuses will be busy tomorrow. It was a physical game, as you would expect coming into to play the Seahawks led by Mike Macdonald.

Q. Do you think Holden was pressing a little bit trying to field the punt.

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: I don't know. I mean, I want to talk to them. He knew he made a mistake. Traeshon lost it the win. He's competing. I think any time players step up, you can be affected by that. But Traeshon is a pro and he'll bounce back.

Q. We talk about all the edge rushers. Malik Davis...

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: He's mad at me because I accepted the penalty. I said, hey, you get lots of sacks. You'll be fine. Yeah, guys just got a knack. He's an awesome rusher. You know, he's been doing it in this league for a long time. Really just appreciate the way he works and it's a special trait that he has.

Q. ...first game calling plays from the sideline. How do you think that went for him?

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER: Thought he was really good. I was over there listening on two. He is what he is. He's calm, cool, convicted. Again, when we gave him the ball on the muffed punt he said, man, I mean, it was 0-0. We need the adversity. It's going to happen in this season. So it was really cool for our guys to respond. I thought he did a great job.

Q. Without watching film, what's your biggest takeaway you have about yourself (and this game)...

JOE MILTON: The biggest takeaway I have for myself is probably just keep seeing it, man. Keep seeing it. Keep progressing. Just keep having fun. I think that's my biggest blessing is to have fun. So just keep doing that. And then for the team, just keep going, keep chipping away.

Q. Speaking of having fun, how much fun did you have watching Camden Brown?

JOE MILTON: Shoot, I was on the ground hoping. I seen him. Pretty much watched him run his whole route as I was taking my snap from under center. It was great to see a rookie come in undrafted and make a catch like that, especially one handed for sure.

Q. What impresses you most (about Camden Brown)?

JOE MILTON: A lot. I don't know where to start from with that guy. Cam (Camden Brown) is a great person, great kid, man. Great kid. Just someone that loves to learn. Someone that literally asks questions every day, and he's one of the people that if he doesn't know, he will ask. So that's probably my biggest thing with Cam.

Q. When you think back to this time last year and playing in these games, how much different do you feel?

JOE MILTON: A lot different. I went through a whole year of game planning with these coaches, so I'm able to game plan the right way now, get an understanding of they're thinking. Shoot, I was able to fix a play and last year I don't think I would be able to do that. I was able to fix a play today, so it's great.

Q. Not that you weren't confident last year, but speak to you saying you were able to fix a play.

JOE MILTON: Absolutely. I feel more confident, but also feel just me. Shoutout to the coaches that were out there today coaching and able to put me in the right position.

QB Sam Howell

Q. How do you feel about your Cowboys debut?

SAM HOWELL: It's fun. Any time you get to go out there and play football it's fun. Moved the ball all right. Obviously there are some plays that I would like to have back. It was good to get out there and play with the guys and we had a lot of fun out there. I'm sure there are things we can clean up, but like I said, it was just good to get out there and play football.

Q. Sustained drives, some really long ones. You don't really see too much of that in preseason games. Seahawks had some, too. You felt like you were maybe able to get in a little more rhythm?

SAM HOWELL: Yeah, for sure. We put that one 16-, 17-play drive together. It shows you how well we were able to execute. We did a lot of good things. A lot of guys made a lot of good plays, so something to build on for sure.

Q. Before you guys go back and watch the film, in real time what do you feel your biggest positive takeaway is from this offense against the Seahawks?

SAM HOWELL: I think we showed when we do what we're supposed to do and everyone does their job we can move the football. No matter what group is in there, no matter where everybody is on the depth chart, if we go in there and do what we're supposed to do, we can move the football. We have a lot of guys on this team that can make plays. I think that showed tonight. So we just got to keep growing, keep building, use this game as momentum, and keep getting better.

Q. Speaking of guys that can make plays, what do you make of the game that Camden Brown had? Also the fact that he's stacking on top of good days he's having in training camp.

SAM HOWELL: He's been having really good camp. I love throwing to him. Joe loves throwing to him. Cam has been a great player. He gets open. When I throw it to him, he catches it. He works so hard. Puts a lot of extra time into the playbook. It's cool to see all his hard work come to fruition out here tonight. The sky is the limit for that kid.

Q. Run us through the touchdown to him, just the trust that you obviously have to put the ball up and what you saw.

SAM HOWELL: We kind of ran another bubble move play. Me and Cam have built a good connection throughout training camp. I know in those one-on-one situations I'm going to give him a chance every time. He made a great play. I was thankful he made the play for me. Any time I have the opportunity to throw the ball to him one on one, especially down the field, I'm going to do it. He's a great player. He works so hard. Great kid. The sky is the limit for him.

Q. How good do you feel about your process so far, progress with this team since you came on board?

SAM HOWELL: I feel good. I just try to take it one day at a time. That's kind of my mindset. Just keep trying to grow in the offense and grow in the system. I feel like I'm getting more comfortable each and every day. So just try to make the most of each and every day and try to learn from my mistakes and not make the same mistake twice. I think that's the biggest thing. I feel like I'm in a good place, but I know there is a lot of room to improve and I'm excited to get back to work.

LB Curtis Robinson

(On his biggest takeaway from the Seattle defense) "First of all it's always cool to get a win to start off the season. Whether it's preseason or regular season, we're all excited about that. I think the big thing we talked about is the penalties, that's obviously something we have to clean up going forward. It was cool to see the offense finish the game out in 4-minute; that's your dream scenario with the lead. Defense stepped up a lot. Had a lot of 3rd and 4th down stops which was pretty critical in that game. A lot of good things to build off of."

(On how it was communicating with the play caller) "It was good, we've obviously gotten a lot of reps now through OTAs and training camp, so we all had a pretty good feel for how it was going to go with the flow of games. It was cool to see him just continue that, playing with live bullets. It was a good experience."

(On how communicating on the field was with his teammates) "I thought it was great. Preseason is funny because there are so many different mixtures of who you're going with. People are subbing out series to series, so you have to communicate differently with different guys. I've done the green dot stuff before, so I'm used to it, and I think they know that. That's what I've been doing in practice."

RB Malik Davis

(On the pass protection today against the Seattle defense) "We talked about it on the sideline and even at practice. We know they are a nickel pressure team. I've seen the safety off the hash, stacking that nickel so I knew the pressure was coming. It's a look that I've seen countless times and I definitely applied myself and had two good ones today."

(On how different this training camp was from last year by having the time to settle in with the offense) "It's a big difference this year. I'm able to be with the guys, be around the guys in camp, and build relationships with these guys. Going into the game, you know, these are my brothers. Last year, I was coming in not knowing guys' names and trying to figure out coaches' names. This year, it's just a big difference. I know everybody, we're family. I believe in them and they believe in me. I'm grateful that I was able to be here during camp and OTAs.

(On what was seen vision wise to find some space and hit gaps) "Just following my technique. Staying true to my technique and hitting the holes that we talked about in practice, showing those same looks that we had. That's just all there was, just being confident in my ability and just reading the holes."

WR Camden Brown

(On his one-handed touchdown catch from Joe Milton) "When the ball is in the air, it's mine. That's always been the mindset from Georgia Southern to Auburn. Just having that mentality because I feel like just playing football in general is having the right mentality."

(On going undrafted and what his performance tonight means to him) "I'd say it was a great feeling because I feel like I get to prove people wrong again. That's just who I am. That's been my whole life story. My little sister right here (motions to pendant he's wearing), she proved everybody wrong. That's just who I am. The way my family is built, we always prove everybody wrong. So we just continue to do that and be the best version of ourselves every single day."

(On his late sister and what her story means to him) "She had kidney failure. People said she wasn't gonna make it past three. She still proved people wrong. She lived to 17 years old. So this past week was a little rough for me because August 13th, 2021 was the day she passed away. So I'm blessed, just living through her every single day. I feel like she lived through me today. That's just the exciting thing about me. Every single day is the way I can share my story and be the best version of myself every single day."

(On having chemistry and being able to perform with multiple quarterbacks) "I (would) say talking. Communication is the biggest key when it comes to football. Being with a team, just talking. Just having a good conversation with people, building every single day. You have the opportunity to (talk) with a quarterback this and the third. I'm talking to Dak (Prescott), I'm talking to Sam (Howell), I'm talking to Joe (Milton III), I'm talking to everybody. That's how you build a connection with the quarterback. JC French IV was my quarterback at Georgia Southern. I built a connection with him. Payton Thorne was my quarterback at Auburn. So it's been a connection with them. They text my phone to this day. So it makes you feel like you did something right."

TE Michael Trigg

(On his mindset, as an undrafted rookie, entering the game...) "Every team passed up on me, so every opportunity I get, I try to make the best play."

(On if, being a Baylor grad, it's extra meaningful to play for the Cowboys...) "I get a lot of love from my family just being in Texas, with Waco being so close. A lot of people already kind of knew me, so it's like a second home."

(On a pregame message he received from a teammate...) "Just be ready, and heavy hands. Put your hands on somebody. Make them feel you."

(On if he felt nerves entering the game...) "I was telling some of the guys before the game, I'm not really nervous. We just got out of practice two days ago, so I'm still around football. It's just another game, another hard day of practice."

(On his mindset in camp and his self-evaluation, knowing he has to prove himself...) "It's been pretty good. Honestly, I just go into every day with an open mind, ready to learn from my coaches, my vets, even DJ sometimes. Have an open mind, 100 percent effort in everything that I do."

(On his feeling of excitement watching another undrafted rookie, Camden Brown, make plays...) "I told him the other day, when I see him make plays in practice, it turns me up. Like he makes me get a little riled up, so now I have to make a play since I've seen him make a play. He's a great player."

(On what he likes from each quarterback...) "I think you can say they're both composed. They both take control in the huddle, because there are a lot of young guys in the huddle, so they slow stuff down when needed. If somebody doesn't know a route, they will let them know. I think that's a great quality for both of them."

(On Camden's catch...) "I was in awe by the catch, so when I seen him, 'Yeah, you just turned me up.' I had to let him know."
