"A few injuries here. We'll see how they turn out. Jack Cochrane, knee. Nazeeh (Johnson) had a shoulder. Again, we'll have to see with the MRIs and things that go forward here. Nohl Williams had a concussion. Mike Edwards hamstring. Felix (Anudike-Uzomah) had a hamstring. Then Omarr (Norman-Lott) came out and went back in. This is a good place to get some of your young guys some reps here. They always have good crowds. It's a great environment out here to see what you've got. A lot of these guys are battling to make the team. We were able to get them in there so we can evaluate them. I thought this game here, that was most important. The ones will get a little more time next week as we go forward on Thursday, but again, there are always some good things, but a lot of things we can learn from here, too."

Q. With your reference to the ones, this is more about next week. Patrick Mahomes, is he likely to play next week?

"I'll give you all that as we get closer. Yeah, there's a chance to get more work."

Q. You're talking about the evaluations tonight. Did you get a chance to lock in a little bit on Josh Simmons at all again?

"Yeah, he got a few plays. Looked like the offensive line did a pretty easy job. They had a good game, too. Thought he handled things well, made some nice throws, checks, all that stuff."

Q. Any impression of Kingsley Suamataia tonight?

"I think the offensive line did okay. I think. I want to take a look at it and see. I thought they did okay, that group."

Q. Skyy Moore's night changed dramatically with the punt return.

"Yeah, listen, drops, not like him. He's a lot better than that. He had three kind of bobbles and drops, special teams and with throws. Came back with a big play, so, I'm proud of him for that. It wasn't his best night up to that point."

Q. One thing that struck me as unusual, it looked like Drew Lock came to you as you were leaving the field. Did you have a nice exchange with him?

"I did. Obviously with his dad, all the things that went on there, he was getting bombarded with things. Sent him a message. He got it. He appreciated it. A good kid."

Q. On leading the first team offense…

"Man, anytime you get out there and get reps, it's a good time. Glad to be working with some of the ones, just get my communication right, to be able to go out there and operate."

Q. On his touchdown pass to Robert Tonyan...

"Yeah, he's (Robert Tonyan) a super smart player, man. He has a great feel for space. Just got out there. He's working with me. It was a good play by him."

Q. How nice was it to see some success with the first team guys?

"Yeah, it was great, man. You want to score every time you get out there. Frustrated to get stopped there (on) fourth and one in the red zone. Great to get out there and get some points on the board."

On his takeaways from the game

"Like coach Reid said, it was a good learning lesson for all of us. We've just got to come out every quarter and give (our) best."

On his performance

"I've still got stuff to improve on. I"m just starting to get the feel of that guard stuff. Overall, just glad to be out there, give my 110 percent every time I'm out there."

On what he's working on to get the feel of the position

"Second preseason game next to a tackle. Just getting our chemistry together and getting out there so we can be on the same page."

On how important it is to be able to do both run blocking and pass blocking

"It's very important, especially pass. We have a passing quarterback. With that responsibility on your back to block the guy in front of you so he can make big plays is very important."

On if he set an objective to accomplish during the preseason due to his lack of experience at the position

"Just getting 10 percent better every day, man. Yeah, it's a new position, but shoot; we ball. Just going out there, playing with the boys, just getting better every day."

On what stands out about playing next to Josh Simmons

"Man, he's an athletic freak. He's very light on his feet, very agile, very strong. So it's nice to play next to him."

On his performance

On his punt return touchdown

"I got back there, had the left return, had great blocks. I saw it from the jump, I saw it play out before I caught the ball. I knew I was by myself. I got it, hit my box and took it to the crib."

On how he was feeling when he got to the endzone

"It felt great, just showing that sense of resiliency. Obviously, I had two drops this game, and it felt like I was in my head after the first one. To go back there and catch a punt return knowing my history of punt returns and take it back to the house. It meant a lot to me, this game and a lot for my confidence. Just showing myself that you can't lose if you keep going."

On how difficult it is to get out of a negative headspace

"It's a physical game. Everything that I've got physically, God-gifted is the reason I'm here. I feel like 90% of the game is mental. Everybody that plays in this league goes through those mental obstacles, I feel like it's about how you do it. Whether you win or lose you just have to keep getting up and keep going. I feel like that's the biggest thing people should take out of what went on today."
