The first injury report of Week 8 is a lengthy one for the Seahawks.
Running back Thomas Rawls (fibula), tight end Luke Willson (knee), left tackle Bradley Sowell (knee), tight end Jimmy Graham (knee), defensive end Michael Bennett (knee), strong safety Kam Chancellor (groin), linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (ankle), cornerback Richard Sherman (not injury related), linebacker Bobby Wagner (not injury related), and cornerback DeAndre Elliott (hamstring) did not take part in Wednesday's practice for Seattle.
Earlier in the day, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll gave updates on Sowell, who sprained his MCL in this past Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, Chancellor, who has missed the past two games to injury, Pierre-Louis, who missed the game at Arizona, as well as Sherman and Wagner, who Carroll said "should be fine" for this week's road game against the New Orleans Saints after dealing with cramping and hydration issues in Week 7. After practice, assistant head coach/offensive line coach Tom Cable said Sowell "was in his stance this morning and moving around pretty good."
"He's made a really quick recovery and felt like he might've been able to do some work today, so let's see tomorrow where he's at," Cable said of Sowell. "We've got a ton of options, obviously you saw George [Fant] today and then you've got J'Marcus Webb can go out there, you've got Rees [Odhiambo] can go out there. So we practiced George and Rees for the most part today."
New injuries on this week's report include defensive end Cliff Avril (groin), who practiced in full Wednesday, quarterback Russell Wilson (right pectoral), who also continues to deal with the knee he sprained earlier this season, and receiver Tyler Lockett (thigh). Wilson, who also sprained his ankle in the season-opener, and Lockett were both limited on Wednesday. For the fifth-year pro Wilson, it marks the first time in his career that he hasn't fully participated in a practice.
"He's getting better," Carroll said of his quarterback on Monday. "He's got out of this game—maybe for the first time he felt nothing of a carry over with his ankle or his knee, which is really good. There's always a little bit of aftermath, he didn't feel that from what I understand."
More detailed updates on Wilson, Lockett, and those 10 players who did not participate in practice to start the week will likely have to wait until Wilson meets with the media on Thursday and until Carroll meets with the media on Friday.
