1. Uchenna Nwosu Is Back
On Sunday the Seahawks announced that outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, who was dealing with a knee issue, passed his physical. That clears the way for Nwosu to start working his way back to practice.
"It's exciting," coach Mike Macdonald said. "Because we're, to my knowledge, ahead of schedule, which is really cool. I know Uchenna's been working his tail off which is par for the course with him. Our training staff just had a great plan. Guy's done a great job. He's going to be back with us… We have a plan to kind of ramp him up going into the first game and give us an option to possibly get out there early in the season."
Macdonald doesn't have a specific game marked for Nwosu's return and wants to make sure Nwosu is hitting all of his marks before putting him out there.
"I think it's probably too early to come to any conclusions, but I think we have a preliminary timetable that gets us around the beginning of the season. There's some checkmarks, checkpoints we have to hit along the way, so the first thing is just doing individual [drills], going through walk-thrus, stay sharp mentally, which he'll be ready on all that, but we have to get to do that first."
2. Injury Updates On Tory Horton, Tyrice Knight & Others
Rookie receiver Tory Horton left Friday's preseason game with what Macdonald was calling an ankle injury, "Tory got a little bit of an ankle," he said after the game. "He could've gone back in. We just shut him down. He wanted to go back in. That was my call."
Horton didn't practice Sunday because of that ankle injury.
Asked if it seemed like a serious injury Macdonald said, "Not to my knowledge."
Center Olu Oluwatimi, who's been out of practice with a back injury practiced Sunday.
"He was out here today," Macdonald said. "Not in a heavy capacity, but he was out here today." Macdonald added later, "I'm hoping he practices against Green Bay."
Linebacker Tyrice Knight is dealing with a knee injury and a separate medical issue that has kept him out of practice, with the expectation to be back for the season opener. Macdonald said the outlook on Knight is, "optimistic."
"We're going to get some more information in the next few days, that'll have some more clarity on his situation, but I'd say optimistic."
Kenneth Walker III has been dealing with a foot injury that has kept him out of a few practices throughout training camp, but Walker practiced Sunday and Macdonald expects Walker to practice at joint practice at Green Bay this week. When Walker has been in practice, Macdonald said, "He looks great. He is fast. He is hitting his targets, reading it out pretty well. It's exciting to have him out there. When he has been out there, it's been really good."
3. Offensive Line Almost Set
The competition at right guard and center should be coming to an end soon. At center, Jalen Sundell has started both preseason games while Olu Oluwatimi was sidelined by a back injury, but Oluwatimi is working his way back and was on the practice field Sunday. Anthony Bradford, who opened camp competing with Christian Haynes at right guard, has started both preseason games at right guard but Macdonald was not yet ready to name him the starter.
"We're getting close. I don't know if we're going to announce it, but we're getting close," Macdonald said on making a decision for those two positions.
4. Joint Practice At Green Bay
This week, Seattle will have a joint practice with Green Bay ahead of its final preseason game on Saturday. The practice will be a chance for Seattle's starters to get in work against an opponent. Earlier in camp, Macdonald said his plan was for the starters to just practice and not play in the game.
"The rule of thumb is you want two to three pretty good intense exposures before you kick it off," Macdonald said. "You can manufacture that in practice with borderline live periods. It's hard to do that in-house, so I think that's where the joint practices come from, where it's a little bit more of a controlled environment, but still intense, which is important. And then some teams handle it by playing their starters in preseason games, and you can get it done that way. We're doing the blended approach this year."
On Sunday, Macdonald reemphasized that Seattle's starters will likely get most of their action this week at Green Bay during their practice.
"This is an opportunity for our ones and twos to be in this environment, practice against a good team, and get some great work in."
Adding, "We'll see how the joint practice goes on how we want to play guys."
The Seahawks returned to practice on Sunday, August 17, 2025 following their win over the Chiefs in preseason Week 2.
