The Seahawks lost quarterback Sam Darnold early in their season-opening win, but both immediately after the game and a day later, head coach Mike Macdonald shared optimistic updates about the Pro Bowl quarterback's prognosis.

Five days after the injury, the news remains positive on Darnold's injury, which is actually a glute injury, not a hip injury as initially feared.

Darnold, who was injured on a sack that ended Seattle's first drive, has a very unique soft-tissue injury, but the hip joint is unaffected by the injury. While there is no firm timeline on Darnold's return, it is considered a short-term injury.
