In what is one of the busier times, outside out free agency, for NFL teams, the Seahawks wrapped up its week of putting together a 53-man roster, as well as establishing a 17-player practice squad.

"We had a great week," head coach Mike Macdonald said. "When you're on the West Coast with all the transactions, how it's going, it's tough to practice early on Monday and Tuesday, so I felt like we got great work done there. The last two days, we really got a couple of great practices in to ramp us into this weekend. Guys will be back Monday, ready to roll. Really excited about the process. Get a couple days off for the coaches to refresh before going into the season. And off we go."

On Thursday, the Seahawks made a few transactions to add to their roster and practice squad. Chazz Surratt, was released by the 49ers earlier this week during roster cutdowns but played most recently for the New York Jets. The linebacker played in 17 games for the Jets last season.

Macdonald said, "His special teams tape is great and right now that's the easiest way for him to contribute to us as he starts to learn our system. This guy can play both spots, he plays all four special teams. He has great coverage ability. Had some really good plays in the run game in preseason tape, so a guy that we had a lot of respect for coming out of the process and we've kept tabs on over the years. A lot of respect for him. We're glad he's here."

Derion Kendrick, a corner who played for the Los Angeles Rams last season was also signed to the 53-man roster.

Macdonald said, "He was practicing today. It's almost like, there's a lot of stuff that he picks up that might be crossover from schematically what he's used to. He's got a lot of great energy to be a great competitor. Excited to see how he fits in."

And two additions to the practice squad, linebacker Chris Paul Jr. and receiver/return specialist Courtney Jackson.

Macdonald was asked if Jackson would be the returner in Week 1 and Macdonald said, "We'll see how it goes."

As for Paul Jr., Macdonald said, "Another guy throughout the process, we had him in for a visit, a lot of respect for him throughout the building and going into the draft process. An opportunity to bring him here, we took advantage of it."
