Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald provided a few injury updates after his team's practice at Lumen Field.

The Seahawks held their annual Football Fest Saturday night at Lumen Field, a day that provided plenty of exciting actions for fans, but that also featured one potentially serious injury.

Safety AJ Finley, who joined the team late last season as a waiver claim, suffered a knee injury that, based off the initial diagnosis by athletic trainers and team physicians, was not positive, Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said.

The injury occurred on a play on which Finley, receiver Dareke Young and cornerback Keydrain Calligan all went up to battle for a Jalen Milroe pass, with Young coming down with a touchdown reception. Finley was injured as all three landed in the end zone, and was later taken off the field on a cart.

"We're going to get test, but the initial feedback is not positive," Macdonald said. "I won't make a declaration yet, but thoughts and prayers are with AJ. That's what we were doing at the end (of practice) there, just saying a prayer on his behalf. What a great person, what a great young person full of great spirit, incredibly smart, just treats everybody with such respect. He's got such a life about him, so it's heartbreaking. These guys, they work so hard and it's just one play. It's such a shame."

Finley's was the only obvious injury that occurred in Saturday's practice, but Macdonald also provided updates on a few players who were held out of the day's action.

Running back Kenneth Walker III sat out with what Macdonald called, "Just a little soreness with his foot right now, but he's fine. We're just taking care of him right now throughout camp."

Guard Christian Haynes also was held out due to a pectoral injury: "He's just dealing with a little bit of a pec right now, but he should be OK."

Long snapper Chris Stoll, who left Friday's practice, is dealing with a back injury. That led to fullback/tight end Brady Russell handling long snapping duties for the day.

"His back locked up," Macdonald said. "Not sure how long it's going to be. He may or may not be ready for the game next week, so we'll have to figure that out."

The Seahawks saw their first live action at Lumen Field during a practice as part of Seahawks Football Fest on August 2, 2025.
