Scott is a four-time FSWA award winner and a 13-time nominee. You can find more of his fantasy football analysis and weekly fantasy football rankings at RotoBaller.com and he is also a host on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio.

Scott finished as a top 15 player ranker in Fantasy Football Week 5 and as a top 10 ranker in Week 2 on FantasyPros.com. He was the No. 1 tight end ranker for Week 5.

After five weeks of play, it is time to take a look at how you can improve your fantasy football in more ways than just being aggressive on the waiver wire. This week's Fantasy Insider features trade targets, guys to be patient with, and players who may still be free agents after the initial waiver runs have been completed for the week.

The analysis is based on PPR scoring and players are listed in order of preference for rostering at their respective positions.

Fantasy Football Week 6 – Running Back Tips

TRADE for Ashton Jeanty: We have not seen the best fantasy production from the Las Vegas rookie yet on a regular basis. In Week 4, he finished as the No. 1 RB in fantasy football, with 155 scrimmage yards and three TDs. As Jeanty becomes more comfortable at the pro level, he should consistently deliver quality performances, with big spike statistical weeks always possible.

HOLD Jacory Croskey-Merritt: The Washington rookie came through with his breakout game in Week 5, rushing for 111 yards and two TDs. You likely drafted "Bill" in the middle or later rounds, and some fantasy players even grabbed him off the waiver wire. Considering the return you are receiving on a later draft pick or free agent pickup, "JCM" is already been a winning acquisition.

I am not saying don't trade Croskey-Merritt at all, yet I wouldn't be shopping him either. Players who outperform their draft slots or expectations can be league-winners, though, so don't be quick to "sell high" in a deal that includes him after last week's outing.

ADD Kendre Miller: We have seen some more flashes of promise from the New Orleans RB this season. He is likely a free agent in many leagues and could emerge as a possible fantasy starter in the weeks ahead. The Saints may make some notable roster moves in the near future that might open up more playing time for Miller.

ADD Trey Benson: In some leagues, you will find fantasy leaguers who are quick to cut injured players, so always check the transaction reports after waiver wire runs to see who may have been released. Such vigilance in free agency in previous weeks led to me adding both Xavier Worthy and Chris Godwin before they returned.

Benson is on Injured Reserve for Arizona, yet he should be back for the later push of the fantasy season. He will likely return as the feature back for the Cardinals, who are using a committee for now. If your team has a winning record so far, then stashes such as Benson and Aaron Jones should be considered if available.

Fantasy Football Week 6 – Wide Receiver Tips

START Stefon Diggs: Drake Maye now has an authentic No. 1 WR, as Diggs is healthy again and rediscovering his best form. In the past two games, he has totaled 247 receiving yards on 16 receptions. Plan to lock Diggs into your lineup regularly. He's not looking like a player who should be involved in tight fantasy lineup decisions unless your WR crew is very strong.

TRADE for Quentin Johnston: The Chargers WR is coming off a game where he didn't register at least 14 PPR fantasy points for the first time in 2025. If you need a WR upgrade while giving up a heavy return, consider dealing for Johnston now. He caught four TD passes in his first four games this season and will continue to be a frequent big-play target for Justin Herbert. The Chargers may also pass more now because of their RB injuries.

STREAM Tyquan Thornton: Even with Worthy back in the mix, Thornton has remained a downfield threat for Patrick Mahomes, who always spreads the ball around effectively. He finished with 90 receiving yards in Week 5 and will continue to be a TD threat. From Weeks 2 to 4 he caught TD passes in three consecutive games.

ADD Isaiah Bond: In Week 5, Bond was targeted seven times. As Dillon Gabriel progresses, the former Texas WR may start to demonstrate his fantasy potential as one the top targets in the Browns' passing game. Cleveland is clearly giving its young offensive players opportunities to make significant contributions. The speedy Bond carries some true fantasy upside.

MONITOR Tory Horton: When eyeing rookies, the Seahawks' 2025 fifth-round pick deserves the attention of fantasy leaguers. Add him to your fantasy watch list, because Horton is fitting in well as the Seahawks' third WR. He can function as a possible streamer for bye and injury needs. Horton has caught three TD passes in his last four games. More quality fantasy performances may be ahead.

Fantasy Football Week 6 – Quarterback Tips

HOLD Kyler Murray: From a fantasy football perspective, Murray isn't a regular starter right now, as he hasn't hit the 20-point mark in a game this season. He also suffered a foot injury in Week 5. Murray, however, remains a focal point of the Cardinals offense and can still be a useful fantasy player as a streaming starter. Do not cut him but rather view Murray as a viable fantasy QB2.

START Justin Fields: The Jets haven't won a game yet, but Fields is helping fantasy teams win games and he should soon play a key part in a New York victory. In four games logged this season, Fields has finished as a top 5 fantasy QB three times and in the top 2 twice. You can trust him as a consistent fantasy starter again, despite the Jets' struggles.

Fantasy Football Week 6 – Tight End Tips

ADD AJ Barner: The Seahawks TE is firmly establishing himself as a quality fantasy option this season. Barner finished as the No. 1 TE in Fantasy Football in Week 5, scoring 24.3 points. He caught all seven of his targets for 53 yards and registered two TDs. Barner has finished as a top 9 fantasy TE in three of the last four weeks.

In his last four games, Barner caught four TD passes. He ranks as the No. 11 fantasy TE after five weeks and is climbing up the leaderboard. Barner is a favorite target of Sam Darnold in key passing situations, especially near the goal line. If you need TE help, Barner may be available on your free agent list right now.

ADD Theo Johnson: This is another TE that is available in many leagues, and Johnson could soon merit regular starting consideration. He caught two TD passes on six receptions in Week 5. Jaxson Dart may look his way often because the Giants' receiving corps has obviously been thinned by the loss of Malik Nabers.

The Seahawks take on the Jaguars Sunday, Oct. 12 at EverBank Stadium. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. PT. Take a look back through history at the Seahawks' matchups against the Jaguars.
