Good afternoon, 12s.

Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today – Tuesday, March 12 – about your Seattle Seahawks:

New Sponsorship In Seattle

Big news for the city of Seattle and the LGBTQIA community as the Cascade Flag Football Association (CFA) announced on March 8 that they will be partnering with the Seahawks to help fund Seattle's premiere flag football league for the LGBTQIA community. The Seahawks will begin sponsoring the league in the 2019 season and the sponsorship will include a financial contribution and other supportive resources.

In an article published on Outsports.com, Seahawks VP of Marketing and Community Engagement Jeff Richards was quoted, "We embrace the opportunity to support causes and organizations who encourage and celebrate a love of the game and foster a positive environment for people to connect with others in our community. We are proud to support the CFA and their commitment to an inclusive flag football league within the Seattle community."

CFA is a non-profit organization founded in 2016 to provide an inclusive flag football league to Seattle, Washington. The league is fully inclusive and welcomes all players to join at the recreational level, however CFA also has a competitive traveling team, the Seattle Boom, who participate in the National Gay Flag Football League (NGFL). "With the support of the Seahawks, we hope to not only further improve our mission, but increase what we are able to do within the greater community," CFA Commissioner Brian Hawker said regarding the sponsorship.

NFL teams' engagement with local LGBTQIA flag football leagues has become a growing trend with the Minnesota Vikings working with the Minnesota Gay Flag Football League. Two other franchises on the list include the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos, who both sponsored the last two Gay Bowl tournaments in each of their respective markets.
